I haven't caught up and am still miles back due to a crying baby (she had jabs yesterday and now the injections sites are red and swollen.)
Hammy, I decided not to bother with a car seat in the end as most of the journeys we will be taking will be on a bus and I don't think we are required to have LO in a seat. However I did check with Easy Jet that buggies are free to take and you can take them into the departure lounge if you don't want to put them in the hold straight away.
We sent off for Erin's passport at the weekend, it says on the form that it can take upto 3 weeks so you still have time. The thing that took the longest was finding someone to countersign the application and photo!Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Mustn't complain really, although annoying young sir woke up VIGOROUSLY at 6 and though I made determined attempts to ignore him to remind him when getting-up time is supposed to be, I gave up under a barrage of "LA LA LAAAA LA"s being bellowed as he slammed himself happily around his cot!
Nice anniversary roast chicken and cuddles last night, but proper treat tonight at fancy restaurant. I brought her home a beltin a feeble attempt at leather(!), and some foot balm and heel soother stuff in a tenuous connection between leather shoes and sore feet ;p it'll do.
To all the ladies agreeing that they really don't have any current/active friends outside MSE to chat to and meet up with, it sounds like very much same situation as my OH, and it's really hard to fix while busy being a good mum! It's not easy so keep chatting here at least, please!0 -

Here you're expected to go in and register your baby while the stick you peed on is still wet :rotfl:
We didn't, because we didn't expect to be here, and we're really going to be reliant on a new bilingual playgroup openingPlus all the best preschools are tied to churches and if you're not registered to pay the church tax (10% of income depending on income level) you're not even eligible.

Quick question for those with older ones, how early do you need to put LO's names down for a place in nursery for once they get their free hours each week?
I would ask as it varies from nursery to nursery.
In our village only the Catholic school has a nursery and the other school just starts from reception. You have to put their name down when they turn two and they sort lists in the May before they start. They try to put children who are likely to go to the Catholic primary in the morning session and other children in the afternoon, so the class all move together into full time school.
Charlotte should be starting in September. It's a nice nursery and they pop over into school for PE and IT lessons, and to watch TV or use the library and attend special assemblies like the harvest festival and the carol service. They get really used to the school and it's not so scary when they start full time. The two nursery teachers started together when the school opened in the late 70's and they still teach together! Here I go again on my own....0 -

She's actually turning up after he goes to sleep, she's having supper out with a local friend first! I was quite surprised she's turned down the chance to come earlier - I reckon it's because she'll then angle for a daytime visit in the next few days :eyeroll:
Which is fair enough really!
I have no idea if I should be looking into nurseries yet... I suppose I ought... hmmmph. One more thing on a to-do list that is not written down and way too long!0 -
jillie1974 wrote: »who was asking bout car seats and easyjet??
It is the accompanying person's responsibility to ensure that the minor is adequately secured into the aircraft seat. To this end easyJet will accept a car seat supplied by the accompanying person for any child over six months for whom an airline seat has been purchased, provided that the car seat has a rigid metal or plastic frame, is no wider than 42cm, includes lap, shoulder and crotch straps, and is upright and forward facing.

Thanks Jillie, the problem for me is that David won't be 6 months old when we travel *sigh*.
Thanks Jenny and Sami too xredmel1621 wrote: »And that brings me nicely on to my question.....Does anyone have a subscription to Which? I am trying to get some reviews and would love to see if there is anything on there.
Mel xdon't feel bad. Like you & Beenie, I don't have any friends either. I'm serious - if you told me to ring someone up for a chat & a cuppa, I don't have a single person I could ring. Okay, I have 1 person through church but is more of an acquaintance that don't socialise with outside of bible study. If I ask a million questions on here, it's because I don't have anyone else to consult - even if my mom was still alive, she'd be 6 time zones behind and too expensive to phone for every little query. I love my DH and I love my life here, but I do feel really really lonely (but know it's my own making by not making the effort to MAKE friends). I was hoping having Finn might open up new avenues, and it still might (he's still young), but so far nothing.
sorry self-centred rant, but guess I just wanted to say I completely understand the sentiment (and explain why I might seem like a lonely saddo on this thread! :rotfl:)
 Hi to eveyone else, gentle hugs to all in need x
