For those who've seen the stepping vid, that's normal, yeah? *confused* Only prob is that I'm tall, he's dinky, it's a long way down to reach and he wants to do it all the time now! We counted up to 36 steps, almost the whole living room earlier
Odd that he'll do that and standing for ages but not sitting down still (except when engrossed in a golfing programme ) and not even got the slightest idea about crawling..
Time to get a truck m'dear
Benjamin loves sport!! I think it is all the green.Alice used to be obsessed - she would use the stacking cups or the flannel or just dip her finger in and suck the water off it. We (well OH because he does baths) tried to discourage it.
Benjamin took a stacking cup up into the bath with him today - although I think he was just so excited when I opened the living room door and let him go through and climb the stairs that he forgot he had it in his hand!
I am kind of thinking that if it is not 'bad' for him then I just let it pass! I am kind of proud of him for sticking his head in just to get a mouthful of wateralthough I was laughing at him and he will do anything to make you laugh!!
I forgot to say earlier - Benjamin and I went out for a walk and when we came back the neighbour came to her window and called me over (the nice neighbour, not the nosy ones). She asked if I was okay because she was worried about me because she had seen me go out on Friday and I looked terrible!!! She thought I was ill - it was the morning I overslept and went out without makeup and with my hair slapped back in a ponytail!!! I knew I didn't look great but I didn't think I looked bad enough to make the neighbours talk!
Just spoke to my dad, he said he didn't know what my mother was on about, that of course they are coming tomorrow and that they are bringing at least 1 nephew with them (the 6yo), the 3yo says he doesn't want to come :rotfl:please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -
Tara, I HATED the stupid god dammed syringe! Stupidest bloody idea ever! I did it once then told them I wouldn't do it again, its horrible and degrading. (or it was to me, sorry, that sounds really bad)
BUT, day 3 when I was 'allowed' to use the pump. it was fine. Started off 20mls, then sneaked upto 40mls etc. But I was breast feeding in between.
Anyway, I got a whopping 1ml with the syringe, so she is doing good. Milk will come in soon and she can start pumping. The massage before really does help, and get a small blanket in with baby to get her scent, then get your daughter to sniff it or cuddle it while pumping.
ETA, and if she has a pump of her own, she can use it. With DS1 I pumped form day 1 with no problems. So long as she keeps it to a gentle suction she should be fine.0 -
.. Elle, Rhys looks like he is doing great! Does he cruise along furnature yet? Or just stepping on the spot? Either way, alls good
Don't worry about crawling, neither of my boys crawled. DS1 was a on his back doing a backwards frog manuver and then rolling into position.
Not along, no. He'll stand against the sofa and eventually take his hands off - usually to reach for something he shouldn't have! *rolleyes*.. DD is expressing, without help I might add. Hospital don't even feed her. She hasn't got milk yet but she said earlier it takes her almost an hour to fill a syringe, is this right, I never expressed in the early days?
Hey you... hope you're eating too! Does DD not get free meals with her being a staying in BFing mum? She should do!
I only started expressing on Day 3 (because they didn't think there would be any point) and it's only of my biggest annoyances that they didn't tell me / I didn't know to start earlier - even though DD doesn't feel like she'd getting a lot, the earlier she starts the better it'll be in the long run. My other biggest regret is not doing it regularly and often enough to build a good supply so even though it'll be like the last thing she feels like doing (I assume she can't do it, inci-side), it is a good idea to keep it up
I know a syringe doesn't feel like a lot (I remember me and the midwives being thrilled I got 10ml in a pot in no-idea-how-long-but-felt-like-ages - never mastered catching it in a syringe!), but Rhys started on 0.5ml feeds every hour, so that 10ml(?) syringe is a whole day of meals (Rhys had a feed every hour for five then miss one hour for rest, iyswim).
Huge *hugs* for you all xx0 -
Thanks ladies, no pump, that's at home so I will send it up Wednesday. I asked the nurse today why she wasn't getting help and she said DD didn't have baby there and as she's from another hospital they don't get involved with her. How's that for BF support!!!!!!
Elle, I also asked about the meals, they said no!Too many children, too little time!!!0 -

What the !!!!? Ohhhh I would be straight onto PALS and asking about their breast feeding policy with an inpatient infant and an expressing mother. That is ridiculus!0 -
i cant comment on the expressing but know a blanket and picture of the baby seem to help express more! there are a lot more people on here that will be able to give you better information xxWhat's for you won't go past you0

Tara, thats awful !! She was their patient originally was she not?? Just couldnt get transferred in time ! I would be tempted to complain to the matron, or head nurse and tell them she needs help. The two best things I have done with my life

That's appauling!!!
If you want, remind us where she is, and we can see if we can do some searching for local numbers of support peeps who'll go in and see her (or meet at hospital cafe if not allowed on ward?), non-hospital connected.
Like Tia and caz suggested, the blanket thing is a good one. Try muslins. My friend on the unit had a pack of three - one for the inci, one for drapping over her shoulder when expressing and one in the wash, circulating accordingly0 -
Wait sorry, is DD at the same hospital as baby or is she at home? I've not been keeping up, but someone needs to help that girl or she is going to have a meltdown (which will be due soon).0

I agree with Tia - that is outrageous. The fact that they transferred from another hospital shouldn't make a difference.Any question, comment or opinion is not intended to be criticism of anyone else.2 Samuel 12:23 Romans 8:28 Psalm 30:5
