MFD - My benefits are pretty good (Civil Service), and if you have a sick child, you are allowed 1 day paid which is supposed to be to arrange childcare for the child. If you need to take longer then it would either be annual leave, unpaid, or pretend you are sick yourself and therefore receive full pay (but p*** everyone else off who don't have kids and have to cover for you!)

Hey - I am/was civil service and we didn't get a day paid! We just lied and said it was us that was sick. :o

Went looking at highchairs today. Thought the Ikea one was ok for a slightly older child, but not sure I would feel comfortable leaving H sitting in it as it doesn't have a 5 point harness. Think we might get one to have at my parents' house and get a different one for us. Not sure what though. Need to go and try out some more I think.
Is there a reason that you want a 5 point harness on a highchair? It is not like the highchair is moving about!! I don't even fasten Benjamin in most of the time...although 3's V climbs out of her Antilop and sits on the tray!!! Do you have a climber too?

Yes - I have a highchair houdini! But we got a set of reins from the chemist (or Ethel Austins) for 3.99, and they fit through the holes on the Antilop (with the waist strap taken out) and they keep her in fine.

I can't believe Benjamin doesn't escape! I must remind V to teach him how if you come on Tuesday. :p

I have desire...but at odd times, never when it is practical! Then by the time we go to bed (usually 12ish) we are both shattered and it is too late :o

Must make more of an effort!

Edit - we are doing it occasionally, just not often enough to please either of us!!

Sound similar to MM. I think I will go that way (hopefully without the lying!!)

To be honest, she is too young yet to know if she will be a climber, but she is a bit of a live wire so I dare say she could be. It's difficult for me to imagine what she will be like in a few months time, so yes, when she is a bit bigger, I think the chair would be ok, but at the moment I fancy something a bit more padded and secure. I wanted to check it out as it is so highly rated by lots of people on here and a couple I know in RL, but I am just not sure about it. It's like buying anything for the first time I suppose. Until you actually have it, you don't know what features will be important to you. I don't think I need an all singing all dancing one which costs a fortune either.

Anyway tried the Chicco Happy Snack high chair? It looked not bad.

LOL - why escape when he can cause havoc from where he is!! Today he looked over the side of his highchair at my glass of Dandelion & Burdock on the floor, took the apple he was eating out of his mouth and dropped it into the glass  Cheeky little sod :rotfl:

    *but what a fantastic aim!!*

LOL - the antilop does have an insert cushion to make littlies a bit more comfortable! I know it is hard to believe that a cheap-as-chips highchair can be 'good enough' for our babies but there are countless people who swear that it is!!! I have an expensive mothercare (think well over £100, possibly more than £150 - my parents bought it) highchair going mouldy in the garage because it doesn't touch the Antilop!! Oh my!! I sound like an Antilop pusher

MFD - I did look for the padded inserts for the Antilop but not sure if they had them or not. There was another smaller highchair that had what looked like a blow up seat insert so wasn't sure if that was it or not. Does that sound like it? They were refurbishing my Ikea though so the whole children's section was unavailable. We just happened to see them near the checkouts.

Right, off to place an order with M&S as have a 12.5% off voucher that expires at midnight, then going to bed. Need to get my beauty sleep in case you get bad reports back about me.

    Night all. x
