Wow! What you have planned for Alice sounds fab. I had no idea you were a qualified teacher when I asked though, or if I did I had forgotten :o
Its interesting what you say about not needing school to socialise. I think personally my views on that bit are a bit skewed, cos my parents didnt socialise me with other kids when I was little, and when I got to playschool/school I had no idea how to act around others and just hung around the helpers and teachers, cos I was only used to being around adults. I feel awful for almost doing the same thing with Seth, as the groups I've gone to are full of cliquey people around here, but he is getting that interaction when he is at the CM's so he should be fine... I hope
Everyone's views are going to be influenced by their own experiences - it's fairly natural. I think also with home educating being uncommon, most people tend to only know of it from hearing about people who have hot-housed their children and not socialised them (like that girl who went to Cambridge at 13 and then ran away) or people who weren't really doing it but used it as a cover for abuse and so that gives a skewed perception of it too.

My local pool has quite a few family changing rooms, but the idiots who go there still leave their bags in and then moan when you use it. I have chucked bags out before. Last time I went there was a used sanitary towel left on the bench and a dirty nappy in the shower area so DS1 didn't go to swimming anymore. Disgusting.

Out of curiosity am I suffering from shopaholicism or am I just a shopaholic?
