Wanna: Lease hire a car
Comments

.... so from my thinking it will depend on each individual case based on what extras you get on the car?...
It sounds like i need to find the car i would want and get a quote on what it would cost me, (hence my first post/question). does anyone know a company who would be worth trying?£2008 for 2008 club No. 286

Asa an extra point, go on CHAL as I mentioned earlier, find the 3 best deals available on the car/equipment package you want, contact the borkers and tell them what you want to pay, be firm, stick to your budget and see what they can do. Let them know you are serious and ready to place an order. Play one off agianst the other and watch the prices tumble. Give them a week to do it then order your car.
Now is a good time, near the end of the month and many will be keen to hit the first target of the year.
thanks PMS - are these guys flexible on spec? i must say i have only spoke to 1 company who said for extras take the cost and divde by 38 = add on to monthly cost.
eg: standard = £259. add met paint at £430 divide 38 = 11.32. monthly cost now is £270.
do that with say the £1500 extras = £40 per month more!
thanks again... this is new to me so really appreicate it.£2008 for 2008 club No. 286

PMSWORKS is showing us why if leasing might make new car the way to go.
If you want similar monthly payments to leasing but still want that 25% off young car you may be able to get a PCP (Personal Contract Plan/Purchase) deal. They are usually small deposit, monthly payments enough to cover depreciation + a bit in case depreciation is faster than predicted + finance charge on whole value of loan. At the end of the PCP you either pay the outstanding balance on the car or hand it back.
Worth comparing the total paid out over the say 30 months with the 36 month lease just in case the lease still ends up being similar or better.
Here is one company that advertise PCP deals on used cars, I have no idea what they are like to deal with. http://www.capitalcarfinance.co.uk/financequote.asp0 -
Have you got to organise the lease of your company car yourself? Most companies do it for you once you have picked the car you want. Do you have an upper limit on the cars price?
My husbands company set a limit (depending on individuals status), if the limit is £20,000 and you can get a £30,000 car discounted to £20k you can't have it because it takes your level up. Also any extras you add to the car you will pay extra in co. car tax and even if you're allowed a discounted used car the tax will be based on full new retail value including extras. So to sum up, the extras that are added on to the leasing cost are also added onto your tax bill, so you're paying twice.

re spec of car - they will get you anything you want. Best deals to be had are on cars that are in stock that need to be shifted. That's why it's best to ring a few brokers who can check every dealer in the counttry for you.
Try Lings Cars - I always found them very hard to beat on price.0 -
What Car have a "lease this car" link on specific car details where you can see ex. VAT prices from mutliple car leasing companies .... there are usually one or two that beat Lings prices - at least the ones I've look at :rotfl:0

Go for the deal not the car if you decide to lease (ie draw up a short list of alternatives the cheapest and best value will be old models about to be replaced or out of favour cars).
Just keep your wits about you in this current market.0 -
Unfortunately that approach doesn't work for me as I generally want a particular car and would rather spend a little extra to get it.
On that note my choice of £20-£25K similar to a Scirroco would be say a BMW 120d M Sport, doesn't really need any extras, list £25.6K, official combined 58.9mpg. £295 + VAT monthly lease. I just love RWD driving dynamics on a good chassis and suspension set up.0 -
Thanks again guys. Some good coments.
With regards to my allowance i have been given a set allowance per month which having looked at my options i would prob go for an A3 or Scirrocco (as Adrian says - im looking at going with what i want). I also know that it will hit my tax that i have to pay - again that is my choice.
I think simply put my heart tells me Scirroco but i will pay more for it.
My head tells me A3 as i will get a better deal (saying that they do start at £4K less than the scirrocco).
I will look around, i have already looked on CHL but will look on those other sites.
