theres lots of posts on here about this (at least one a day) but anyway first things first what tv do you have ? what inputs does it have ? and what outputs does your laptop have ?0

I have just done the same and found a website that sells the cable(s) you will require including advice about different cables/connectors,I don't think we are allowed to post links on this forum but if you pm me I will pass the information on.
I have no connection to them but found it helpful and very reasonable in price.0 -
hi, my laptop is a sony vaio nw20ef, with a vga output, and my tv is a LG 42" 1080p LCD. I have seen a couple of leads on ebay but they say that 'this wire is not for connecting your laptop to a TV???0

Simplest solution is if your TV has a VGA socket on the back get a VGA cable and use that. You will also need a phono cable for sound (looks like a headphone socket on both ends).0

will the VGA cable carry HD from my laptop to the tv? my laptop has blu ray drive so just wondered, also if i download hd things of the net?0

Bump... Will the VGA be ok for HD films to watch on big screen instead of the laptop screen?0

I wouldn't use this cable, it can have a lot of compatability issues and you will still need a separate sounds cable. Like I said before... does your TV have a VGA socket on the back?
I use a VGA cable to connect my HD media PC to my TV, absolutely no problems, just set the resolution correctly (1920*1080 for full HD)0 -

You need a Sony PS3.
iPlayer is native and everything else (tv, movies etc) can be streamed effortlessy and wireless (providing you have a wireless router) to your TV without buying silly cables and placing your laptop in a specific spot.0
