Newquay hen weekend in July

Hi everyone, im posting this for my sister who is trying to get ideas for a friends hen weekend in july.
Firstly does anyone have any suggestions on where to stay-- ideally they would like to be near the beach and bars/clubs etc(if thats possible)!?!? There will be around 10 or 12 of them going.
I found travelodge seafront for about £175 for 2 nights, and they could get a family room which will fit 3 adults(so £175 divided 3 ways)--i thought that was a good deal.
With regards to travel, they would like to fly form Edinburgh or Glasgow, as far as i can see its only flybe that do it--and is around £160 pp. Any advice on this or ways to get it cheaper?
Anyone who has done this or has any advice for things to do, places to go/not to go then feel free to post your views.
Many thanks in advance.

Hi there! I'm originally from Cornwall and spent many a night clubbing in Newquay! There will be loads of hen/stag parties around at that time of year so should be a good atmosphere.
This; http://www.bertieslodge.co.uk/ would be a decent place to stay (although possibly a little pricey?) it gets you half price entry into Berties nightclub as well and is a decent nightclub http://www.bertiesclub.com/ . The lodge is (I think) almost directly above the club.
Theres tons of bars and clubs
http://www.talltreesclub.com/ - I used to go to this one a lot although haven't been there for years so it may well have changed! Pretty sure there's a Wetherspoons and all the usual chain pubs too.
There's a few spas around Newquay, went to a nice one for a friend's hen do in July last year, think it was in Watergate Bay (bit out of Newquay). There's Jamie Oliver's restuarant as well close by.
With the travel; would it be possible to have a look at flights to Plymouth or Bristol and get a train down? I think they're fairly cheap to Bristol as I was looking into flying to Edinburgh. Might be a bit of a hassle getting to Newquay on the train though. Prob 3 hours from Bristol and an hour ish from Plymouth. Also there's Exeter airport?
Hope this helps, if I think of anything else will let you know!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0 -

Thanks for the info vicster, that will be a good help for them. With regards to travel, i take it those would be the closest airports to Newquay (apart from newquay), just then i could get a range of prices, then obviously add on train to newquay?!?! Yeah?
Does anyone know how good a location the Travelodge seafront is? Is it near the main beach, and lively areas for them to walk to perhaps?
Any other info please feel free to comment.

Any other time of year they might be better staying in a surf lodge, but I think in July most of them only accept bookings for a week! £30 each per night doesn't sound too bad for July.
The location is central and looks like it would be good, it wasn't there last time I went.
We went for my friends hen party and had a ball, we booked a surf lesson with Escape surf school and it was so much fun, there were 11 of us, most had never surfed before, but the guys at Escape are great teachers and everyone was on their feet at least for a few seconds. Would highly recommend, both newquay and this surf school!
Finally travel - last year my friend took the train from london, I am fairly sure it went through Bristol, all the way to Newquay. Took about 4hrs, and it was a special service they put on for the summer. Can't remember how much but she said it was good value, so that might be better than flying straight there. There is also an airport in Exeter which is much closer.
hope that helps0 -
That sounds good then if the travelodge is central to most things, i will pass that on, i think they should just book it, and quickly!!
Im still unsure what they are goin to do about travel. Flights seem to only be with BMI to newquay from Edinburgh, and are £150+ pp once all the dodgy taxes and other stuff is added!
Keep the ideas coming peeps.

It is newly opened and is above the new Aldi store, right across the road from the train station. There is no parking (all parking is for Aldi) and the views across the bay from the Aldi car park are magnificent - equally if you have a sea view you're right ON the cliff edge there.

The hotel itself is right on the corner of the tram way, which is a walk way leading down into town. It's 100 yards from Berties. I am not sure if you can get down to the beach from the Aldi car park (it used to be the Beachfield Hotel which had its own set of steps to the beach which may or may not still exist).
The nearest beach to walk to is Great Western, which is a 50 yard walk along the road, then down to the beach... ideal for popping out for 20 minutes if the rest aren't up yet.
It isn't "in town" from a pubbing/clubbing perspective, but within 1/2 a mile of "where it all happens" - and about 100 yards from Bertie's club, which would be your first port of call if you're on a crawl.0 -
Thats a great help, many thanks for that. I think they want to go to Fistral beach? To get a surfing lesson and whatever else happens there!?! But 1/2 mile to most things is pretty ideal id say.
So nearest airport is exeter then(apart form NQ), how far away, and is there any other airports close by?
thanks. Dov0 -
Plymouth would be closer to Newquay (about 30-40 miles I think) but Exeter is not a huge amount further if you're looking at trains (about an hour away from Plymouth). I guess you could see who flys to which airport and work out the best price? If the train is booked in advance that would also reduce the price further. hth!I want a perfect body, I want a perfect soul, I want you to notice when I'm not around0

I think they have decided that the travelodge is a pretty good deal so they are just goin to book that. They still havnt booked any flights yet--think train would be too long from Fife where we are, but its just a pain that its only FlyBe that do flights to newquay as they on the wrong side of cheap!!! Around £160 pp when you add on the tax and luggage. Anyone know of any upcoming flightdeals or ways to get it cheaper??
Also if anyone else has advice for what to do in newquay that would be great--ie---Bars to go to, nice restaurants for a meal, places to avoid, surf lessons, beaches etc etc!
Cheers,

Can you not go in June instead as travel prices may be cheaper (out if school holidays etc). if the train or coach is too long then you will have to fly and you are at the mercy of the airline that does those routes. Generally prices go UP the longer you leave it on these types of airline
Cab i think was about £20 from airport to centre of Newquay
Fistral beach is the other side of Newquay and you can book surfing lessons etc on the surf school on the beach there. It is truly a magnificent beach by any standards and if you get the good weather it is IMO as good as anywhere in the world
Nightlife is pretty good and lively and most pubs/clubs are in the main centre of town which is pretty easy to find
There was a Mexican restaurant on main road into high street area which was pretty good (near Berties I think) for a group meal and pretty lively
Sure you will have a great time0 -
Hi
Have they checked Air Southwest? They fly from Glasgow to Newquay. I used they to fly from Newquay to Grenoble a few weeks ago and they were great. The price you get on their website is the total cost with everything included.0
