Alliance & Leicester 100% Cashback

Hi, wonder if anyone can help me please?! I saw the offer on here for the £100 cashback when you open an account with Alliance & Leicester. Anyway I continued to apply online and was accepted. I thought I would check reviews online and to my horror I think there was only one positive review - all the rest were really awful and the general thought was not to go with them. Has anyone joined them and if so are they any good! I have cancelled the change over for now - dont want a rubbish bank account.

Thanks

Fiona

  • I have had no issues at all, it tends to be the only people that post are the ones who have had bad experiences. Lets face it no banks are great, I am getting away from Halifax as they have been a pile of crap for me and caused me no end of trouble for the last year. I have now changed to A&L with no issues, they matched my overdraft, changed over all my DD's and SO's so no complaints at all. Sometimes I think you have to try it for yourself, at the end of the day if they were as bad as people make out they simply wouldn't have as many customers as they do.
Just my opinion anyway, hope it helps in some way.

Well I've gone the other way, because, as you'll no doubt find out, A&L do not value their customers loyalty. They prefer to concentrate on attracting new customers with bribes, then after a year they treat you like dirt with low interest rates and poor service. You might get £100 out of them, but I'd get away from them as soon as possible.

I think you need to transfer accounts within a number of weeks and pay in a set amount within that time frame to qualify for the cashback, not sure on the exact terms though...

I've had an A&L current account for a while and have had no problems.
    I went away and now I'm back.:j:j
  • From my experience opened an ISA with them.

Took 4 months to transfer because they were too busy to ask my bank to do it.
Really difficult to cancel with them.
Their phone systems are a nightmare you get passed from dept to fax and if you get their helpful department, you'll find some of the worst examples of customer service I've come across.

If I were you get your £100 and join first direct, get another £100 and better service.

    .............. and I think you'll find it's £100 cashback - not 100% as your heading!

For that rate ..... even I would switch - even knowing they're absolute rubbish. :)
