Vodafone Customer Service
Hi Guys, Strange one here. I've been a customer of Vodafone for a couple of years on monthly contracts around £40 pcm and recently decided to upgrade to the new Apple iPhone opting for the high end 32GB at £179 plus £40 pcm contract over 18mth (just to give an idea of my level of custom)
Following problems with the changeover, delivery etc I had to call their CS dept, after a few minutes a Supervisor joined in the call and obviously not realising I could hear them both proceeded to a lewd and inappropriate conversation about me making a disgusting remark which when I asked what they were talking about they tried to get out of it realising they had been caught, anyway it ended up me making an official complaint the the Chairman and they have listened to the call and agreed with my account of the call. Question is how to resolve the issue, it did leave me quite disturbed and a very distressed night, thinking had I heard what I heard etc as it was initially denied. Having spoken to a few friends I asked for the cost of the phone to be refunded and 12 months line rental to be credited to my account and we would leave it at that.
Anyone offer any input, am I being reasonable ? over the top ? They are trying to negotiate me down which I guess I understand although I would have thought them just grateful I wasn't taking legal action against them rather than agreeing to remain a customer.
Thanks in advance.
Andy

Contract Price: (£40*18 +) £179 = £899
Req compensation: (£40*12 +) £179 = £659
So you after £659 in compensation, for some problems with changeover and a remark an advisor made on the phone. I don't know how bad these comments worth. But you are asking for alot.
Given the total contract is only £899, they would probably make a loss by agreeing to it (899-659 = 240). IPhones are only given to customers they select as they are so popular anyway, you need a good credit record to get one.
With a full student discount direct from apple, that model costs £459. (if i remember)
I think the most you would get is tops, 3 months line rental for free.
From what little information you have provided, whilst you have been inconvenienced, you have not suffered a financial loss nor suffered serious mental trauma, thus I doubt you could get compensation via a legal route. You could complain to OFCOM about it.Although no trees were harmed during the creation of this post, a large number of electrons were greatly inconvenienced.
There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies0 -

cant be that good, i have an 'iffy' credit history and managed to get an iphone on the £50/month tarrif...i appreciate its off-topic slightly
OP: Share the comment they made and we'll decide whats an acceptable level of compensarion, if for example they just called you a 'numpty' asking for hundreds of pounds compensation is ridiculous, if its a lot more personal, then its a different matter£4988 Lloyds TSB Mastercard
£400 O/D Lloyds TSB
£2650 Lloyds TSB Loan
£5070 Black Horse Finance
Skint, but I have a plan.... an MSE Plan!!!0 -
Thanks for the replies - I can't say what they said, lets just say it was of a sexual nature, lewd and totally inappropriate, if it was a work colleague it would certainly be a sexual harassment case and gross misconduct on their part.0

You can ask for a copy of the recording under Data Protection. It could cost you £10 but would be very useful should you pursue it.
In this litigious society, they could be in a bit of bother and you have the cards at the moment.
With your demand for the release of the recording - a formal request under Data protection - you should infer that you will be taking the matter further unless they offer some compensation for the slander of their employee.
But don't be greedy!0
