Contacts strangely deleted on mobile phone!

I have a Nokia N95 which I've used for just over a year with no problems, am on contract 02 sim-only package.

Yesterday I noticed that quite a few contacts have been deleted off the phone and when I write text messages I can no longer insert a recipient as I normally could. I either have to reply to a message that has been sent to me or click the contact first in the address book.

As far as I know I haven't done anything to the settings or the sim or the phone itself, I just wonder if some of the contacts have been 'hidden' or deleted for good?

Has anyone had a similar experience or can give some advice as to what to do? I was planning on popping into one of the phone shops but thought I'd come by here first- also, in the shops they tend to make you phone a helpline & aren't necessarily able to help you face to face. Thanks in advance!

Go into your phone book, and then check the options. Ensure your reading the phone book from phone memory, not the sim card.

You could try a hard reset.

Or plug into the PC and see if there is any later firmware for your phone.

There are two ways of constructing a software design: One way is to make it so simple that there are obviously no deficiencies, and the other way is to make it so complicated that there are no obvious deficiencies
