Starting a new "12 month free" contract

I'm coming to the end of my current 12 months free contract with O2 through mobileshop.com and have had no problems with getting the cashbacks.

Now, when I cancel the contract with O2, and want to start a new contract:

1. will O2 allow me to start a new contract with them?
2. will I have to move to another network?
3. would I have to take the contract out in my wife's name if I wanted a new contract with O2?

Would there be any problem going through mobileshop again (although they don't seem to have as many free offers as Cool New Mobile)?

I'm not bothered about having to change network, it's just that O2 seem to be the network on most of the 12 month deals.

Hi Charlie,

I don't think you will have a problem with taking out another 12m free contract on O2. For one thing, O2 have absolutely no knowledge about the deal struck between you and the retailer - to them you are the same as a customer who has been paid no cashback.

Regarding your assertion about most of the 12m free deals being available on O2, I would say that there are just as many, if not more, 12 months free deals available on Orange. However, that is largely a consequence of Orange's recent complication of their tariff structure with, for instance, THREE separate tariffs at the £30 level. Where a handset is available with 12 months cashback on one of these £30/month tariffs, it is often available on all three.

Thanks Reestit, I have been making use of your very useful site :beer: and had noted that Orange had numerous deals through CNM.

As it's for my wife it'll depend on who's offering the most attractive phone!
