Is there a way to find out what network a phone is locked to? Other than getting different sim cards and putting them in?

Thanks

Steve

    not without special hardware
unless there is branding on the housing
usually voda/orange/virgin have housing branding but tmob and o2 dont so you maybe able to eliminate some like this

    Thanks drahcir,
Sadly no branding, however it's not t-mob, o2 or orange so i'm getting there. Just ordered a free vodaphone sim card, so I'll try that.

    Thanks

To generate an unlock code, it is necessary to know which network it is locked to, unless a data cable is used to connect it to unlocking software running on a PC etc.

I have now found out it was locked to vodaphone.
Just had to find someone with a sim for each network.

Sadly no cable so need the network to generate the code.

You mean it works on all the above?

Am I missing something???? Surely if it's not locked to t-mob, o2 orange (as you have said) then the phone is obviously unlocked already!!???

    Happyhunter,
What I meant was they were the sim cards that I had tried, that wouldn't work because of the phone lock.
Needed to go through and find one that worked (Vodaphone in this case) so that I could unlock it.
