Hi

I am reviewing my Virgin package deal and am trying to work out the difference between the Virgin XL package and Sky + 6 entertainment package.

They look the same and Sky is cheaper but do either have any advantage?

I am also looking to change my phone and broadband, presently with Virgin, as the broadband keeps dropping Internet explorer and losing IP address. Although on anytime phone calls I still make calls to mobiles and 0870 numbers which are not on say no ............

As I do not have a BT line I think that I will have to sign up to them for their £4.99 package which gives free access to 0870 numbers and perhaps to O2 premium for the broadband? I have to move out of my home for 3 months and O2 say that they will allow me to have the broadband at the new address, which has a BT line, and then transfer it to my home as they allow 1 change of address in a 12 month period without charge.

Would you stay with the Virgin XL TV package or change to Sky?

Also if anyone can suggest any better deal I would be interested?

Thanks

I don't think you get BBC iPlayer or 4oD etc on Sky, so I'd always go for Virgin personally (yes I know you can watch them on a PC, I'd rather watch on a TV though).

Why not go for Sky and bundle your phone and broadband with Sky? Sky becomes quite good value when you take a call plan (free) and broadband (£5 off a month with a call plan).

To get the same quality as O2 llu though you should go for the Sky unlimited broadband which is truly unlimited - so no throttling. It costs £10/mth if you take the free evening & weekend call plan - but it's optional to leave your line rental with BT or move it to Sky as well.

Compare to O2 - you'd be paying £15 a month for the Premium (unlimited) broadband or £10 a month if you have an O2 mobile phone (pay monthly or pay as you go).

So even Sky's top package would be cheaper and it makes sense if you want Sky TV anyway.

There's a comparison on Sky or Virgin here http://www.chooseisp.co.uk/broadband-gu...sky-vs-virgin-media.html

BBC iPlayer on the TV is definitely a plus though, and I think VM are probably better for other on-demand services too.
