    Hello ladies,

I've had a lovely weekend away with my mum to the lake district so have just skimmed the last few pages. Can't remember everything so I will echo what Sammy says above...;)

Well we went to the docs today to get OH swimmer results and not good news.

only 30% of his sperm are moving like they should be and out of them only 1 in 10 are healthy and could result in a PG. In other words, 30% chance of us getting PG and 9% of that resulting in a baby (others will be mc). I'm quite upset but OH is acting like it isn't a big deal. I think even the doc was shocked at how well he took it.

We are registered with different surgeries so I have to go back to mine and ask to be referred for IVF.

I'm still going to start my CBFm on the next cycle though, more data the better. I'm really not looking forward to IVF but even if we get referred now it will be at least 12 months before an appointment.

Maybe I should consider moving to the 12+ months thread now.....:(

    Feeling very sorry for myself......x

((((((((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))))) Dusty - what upsetting news. Men don't always like to show their feelings so try and talk to each other about how you feel. In my book was a case study about a chap who had a low sperm count, and by changes in his diet he did manage to increase the level. I know it may not be much, but maybe worth looking into whilst you wait for IVF. Also, it may not necessarily be 12 months, it always depends on where you live - postcode lottery and all that. Take care honey and please don't leave xx

On a side note, my good neighbour has recently lost her cat :( Do you think it's too much if I write the Rainbow Bridge poem in a card - she's ever so upset. We always fuss over each others animals and I feed her cats when she's away. What do you think?

Sorry Fanta, must have crossed posted (((hugs))))

I have that book Sammy. Let me know how you get on with it, i've hardly even read it :o You have just made me go dig it out tho....

I think that's a lovely thought for your neighbour. I have 3 cats and am always devastated when I loose one. They're my fur babies

Thanks Sammy, the doc said this is very common in men over 30 nowadays due to the lack of exercise and poor diets compared to 20 years ago. He walks 5 miles a day now but does have a poor diet so he has promise dhe will look into it. Because he works night in a scrap yeard he is working in a furness all night which I wonder if that has something to do with it. I know sperm needs to be kept cool doesn't it?

Anyway, I was so sure the problem was going to be with me that when my test came back clear I really got my hopes up. I never considered there'd be something wrong with him and i don't think he did either.

He is just not seeing it as a problem (which might be a good thing compared to me), he's very "we'll still have children, whether it's in a few years through IVf or we can adopt".....I just can't see that far ahead just yet.

I know I'll mope for a few days then snap out of it, my moping won't really make my OH feekl any better about himself though....

Yes, read it. I admit the diet section isn't particularly entertaining but it is very informative! I've still got 4 other stages to read lol.

Thanks for the thoughts on the card - I think I'll do that.

Mope all you need Dusty - it takes time for that kind of information to sink in. Maybe the furness doesn't help - its like hot baths, they can't get the body too overheated as thats not good for the sperm.

    It sucks I know :(

hi i'm here. Didn't get online at lunchtime as was reading a book

saw the doctor tonight to get my scan and blood test results. Turns out i have low progesterone levels, and doctor doesn't think i probably ov due to really long bleeding. He's refering me further and says that even if they come back and say i have to wait 12 months he's gonna push it as i have the hormone level problem which isn't going to sort itself out in the next 6 months.

I did mention using AC as a matter of last resort to stop the bleeding and he did a quick google search (didn't expect that i'll tell you) and said he would look into it further but that it's got some hormone properties which have worked on me at the moment.

    Hi everyone,

It has taken me two evenings to catch up! I was wanting to see if SK had good news... I am sorry SK.

I have read everyone else's posts too, there are too many to reply to individually but I promise I have read them.

I won't be testing on the 9th as AF has arrived today. That means I have had a 22 day cycle which is really backing the luteal phase into a corner isn't it. Then again, the tests did not pick up ovulation so who knows what is going on.

    Hey Dusty,

Big :grouphug: from all on here. You've only been seriously trying from Jan 2010 so you still have 30% chance which is better than none. You have your CBFM so know exactly when to DTD to give that 30% the best chance. Did the Doc say if drinking had been a factor for mr dusty or even begin to investigate why?

I'm guessing his lack of attention to the problem is probably a cover for his upset. I'm sure blokes hate to hear they're not up to parr. As for discussing it, mine is like getting blood out of a stone. He talks eventually but it's after a whirlwind of turmoil for me first. Sometimes is best to let them come around to the idea of talking. I would say it's good that he's mentioning adoption. Mine doesn't want to think of taking care of something not his own blood so at our stage it's not something he's thinking of. I long to be pg and carry as we all do but if I couldn't I would happily adopt. Give him time to adjust.
