    Hi Ladies

Hoping someone can help me.......I will try to keep this short!

I suffer from RA and stopped my meds in Nov as we want to TTC. Since then I have been making a note of my cycles lengths, etc to try to work out when 'the best time' would be to.........well you know! We cant actually start TTC until May as I have to have 6 months of no meds first but so far we have cycles of 26, 24, 25 and currently on day 31 (not sure what thats all about!) Is there any way I can work out my most fertile time?

    Thanks
    Linz xox

It's really best to BD every 2 - 3 days all through your cycle. That way you know you haven't missed the ov day. Generally one ovs 14 days before their period starts - hence the '2 week wait' of finding out if you're preggers. But this isn't set in stone and can be different.

I usually have 28 - 31 day cycles, but this month it's looking like a 36 day cycle (almost on, but not bleeding fully yet to count CD1 today). This must mean I ov'd later than I thought so means we prob didn't even BD at the right time so now I'm not taking any chances and going to BD from the end of my period till my period arrives again - or I test positive.

You can do temperature charting but this doesn't tell you when you are going to ov, it just tells you have ov'd - see www.fertilityfriend.com for more info. So charting is useful to show that you are at least oving.

    HTH a bit.

    BTW way what is RA?

    @Fantafan - welcome!

Tinks it normal I think, we really want a baby but after the mc I am too scared as I dont think I could cope a second time. So we are using the CBFM to know when we need to be careful !!! Bit of a different use for it. Hope I feel able to try soon as I am 37 this year so time is not on my side.

    Thank you Penny.

I am due to OV next weekend we are away for the weekend with friends in Welshpool & going to see cirque du soleil in Manchester. I am 36 going to be 37 in April and do feel like my clock is ticking!

I guess in reality however hard it is to accept it will happen when it happens and I am just praying that the next time it does for all of us will be a bean that we can hold in our arms. :A

Heh Tinks I am going to be 37 in April too!

I'm worried that OH and I dont BD enough. I've really wanted to go for it this week, and we managed Sunday and Tuesday, but OH has come down with a nasty cold and is off sick today and told me in no uncertain terms that there will be no BD'ing going on this evening :(

CD 16 for me today. My cycle is normally between 29 and 31 days. Do you think I have BD'd at the right time this month?

    I'm fretting.

MV stop fretting hun:) remember those little swimmers can stick around for a while in there so as long as you've bd'd roughly around OV you're in with a chance:)
And start dosing you OH up with vitamins with a decent amount of Vitamin C..should keep the colds at bay;):)

Having had a nose through todays news stories on Yahoo i am absolutely gobsmsacked at this article - http://uk.news.yahoo.com/5/20100303/tuk-supermarket-to-sell-ivf-drugs-at-cos-45dbed5.html

I can see this going through the roof from couples who panic they have not conceived within a matter of months and convince each other this is teh best route to go down.

Mine is April 10th Tinks so I am exactly 17 days older than you!

How long do sperm live on avearge inside you? I have read differing things. I guess if it's 1-2 days then if you BD twice in your ov week you have a decent chance?

Spooky!!! My Wedding blessing is on your B'day then!!! :D

    On the sperm subject -

It is a fact that sperm can live up to 4-5 days in your body, contrary to anything else you may have heard or read. In addition to this fact, the egg released can live between 12-24 hours. Therefore, your fertile period starts approximately 4-5 days PRIOR to ovulation and ends 12-24 hours after ovulation. If you do the math, it is possible for some woman to be fertile for as many as 7 days. You may have heard you can only get pregnant one or two days a month...SO NOT TRUE!!! You may only ovulate that long, but with the life of sperm and the life of the egg, your fertile time can be much longer. Another bit of info that many woman don't know is that female sperm are slower but stronger and therefore live longer than male sperm which are faster, but weaker. In other words, male sperm will usually beat out female sperm in the race for the egg, yet female sperm will usually out live male sperm. So, if you are trying for a girl, have sex the 5th, 4th, and 3rd day before ovulation and then abstain.

Thanks for that info Tinks...fingers crossed then that our 2 BD's this week will have been enough..good to know that sperm can live as long as 5 days. I thought it was only 2-3.
