Re my original post; rough details are:
Partner earns Around £39,000, works 35+ hours per week
I am at home with 2 kids aged 7 and 3
Gave up work 3 years ago to raise children
Currently get just over £40 per month tax credits in total and the usual child benefit
Just wanted to know if I was entitled to any help with Council tax.
Want to retrain as a nursery worker but cannot afford the course, would I get any help with the cost
Thank you.0 -

I do not think you would get any CTB with an income that high but you could check on entitledto.com if you want0 -

Someone may take you on as an apprentice. They'll train you, you'll go to college 1 day a week and spend the other 4 days at a nursery. You'll get around £100 (I think) per week for it.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked

That income is before tax and other deductions. I have always worked and just wanted to know if I was entitled to claim anything while I am not working as we have quite a high mortgage. When we got the mortgage I was obviously working and now our income has gone down significantly.
I am not being greedy just wanted to know if I was entitled to get anything to help whilst I am not working.
Thanks for the other responses. Thread closed.0 -

It is only board guides etc who can close threads.
The point is means tested benefits are for those on a low income which you are clearly not.0 -
Can't blame the OP for asking. I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if she had been entitled to something in this crazy everyone is entitled country.
I still can't get over the fact that someone can declare themselves self employed and pay no National Insurance contributions. Then a few years down the line decide they are too ill to work and want to claim sickness benefit. So can pay a couple of hundred quid in backdated NICs and then get an income of £65 a week for the foreseeable future. Absolute madness.0 -

If you don'talready have a level 2 qualification then you would be able to do a level 2 in Childcare for free. This would apply for any kind of qualification at this level.0
