Pit Stop M6 between Penrith & Preston?

Tomorrow (Friday) I'm going south on the M6 and should be between Penrith and Preston about 6pm and am looking for somewhere for a family of 4 to stop and have something to eat. Not a service station! I seem to remember there was something along the A65 towards Kirkby Lonsdale but I'm not confident enough to drive along there for nothing. I can just hear my wife and kids if I can't find it!
Anyone got a suggestion?

I would eat in Penrith before you leave and then leave a bit later to avoid traffic. To me a stop between Penrith isn't worth it as it would only take you less than an hour anyway!I haven't got one!0

I'm travelling from further north, I will be passing Penrith about 6 and want to get something to eat around then. I'm going to Manchester but will not be there till about 7.30 and wanted to eat earlier.0

This is a useful little site for just that sort of question. It details food and fuel stops just off the motorway network.

Ah, now I understand. Penrith is a lovely place to stop. I picked my dad up from there a few weeks ago. We had McDonalds! There's also a Morrisons with a cafe but not sure what time they would serve food tilI haven't got one!0

If you do find yourself needing to use the motorway services - Tebay services [the one on the actual M6 not the ones on the roundabout at Jcn 38] are nothing like your average Moto or Welcome break ones.
They are really rather good0 -
Unfortunately the Westmoreland services on the motorway at Tebay is Northbound only, and its'a long detour to turn around.
It is however constantly prizewinning.
You can even pic-nic aropund the duck pond.
Most of the food is locally sourced and prepared.
No business connection, just a happy customer.Neil0 -
