  • I wasn't aware of that. I assumed all employers just claimed it back?

Off sick is off sick, The sick note says 'unable to work' or words to that affect.
They dont say unable to carry out 1 job but okay for the other.

No, a sick note is a note saying that the employee is unfit to do the job they are employed to do. A doctor will ask what job you do before giving a sick note, generally. So it's perfectly possible to be unable to do one job but perfectly able to do another.

Its perfectly logical for a person employed in two jobs to be able to work one and not the other due to some incapacity.

Not sure why anyone has a problem with it to be honest?

No, it depends on the amount of employees, cant remember the numbers but it could be either 14 or 20 or graduated inbetween after that the company has to stand it.

The small employer system for recovering SSP was replaced by the Percentage Threshold Scheme a few years ago. Now any company can recover some SSP. If the amount that they pay in SSP in a month is greater than 13% of the class 1 employees' and employer's national insurance deductions for that month then they can recover the part over the 13% figure.
