SSP Question

If someone has two jobs and is sick, who do they claim the SSP from?
My friend works 20 hrs in one job and roughly 15 hrs in the second. Before she took the 2nd job, she would claim SSP from employer no.1 but he is now saying that he isn't sure that it should be him that pays it.
Can she claim it from both employers? I don't know the exact figures but doubt that she earns the necesary £95pw from the 2nd job.
Can she be sick from one job (and claim the SSP) but still work in the other?
I've tried googling for the answers but its about as clear as mud!
Thanks x

I think I've found the answer now thanks.
She can claim it from employer No.1 as she earns over £95 pw (and he has to pay it) but not off employer no.2 as she earns under that amount.
And surely its quite possible to be fit for one job but not a second - I've got 2 jobs, one of which is an office based sit-down-all-day job and the second is more manual. It would be fairly easy to do job 1 if I had a bad back or broken leg or something but not possible to do job 2!! And no, it isn't me that is thinking off going off sick either.

Off sick is off sick, The sick note says 'unable to work' or words to that affect.
They dont say unable to carry out 1 job but okay for the other.
She would be signing this sick note.
It would be fraud and the DWP would find out about it no doubt about it.
She will have an NI number and its amazing what comes together on the DWP computer system.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

If you have two jobs and qualify for SSP in both jobs then you are entitled to receive SSP in both jobs, that is two lots of SSP. This assumes that you are incapable of work in both jobs, if you can still do one job then you would be expected to continue working in that job and get SSP from the job you cannot do.0

It beggars belief but you can receive SSP from one job and carry on working in another,LEGISLATION Social Security (Contributions and Benefits) (NI) Act 1992 The Statutory Sick Pay (Medical Evidence) Regulations (NI) 1985 The Statutory Sick Pay (General) Regulations (NI) 1982

A person can earn money from a different type of work while receiving SSP providing the employer paying SSP agrees that s/he is incapable of doing her/his job. I think it's a good thing and as we can see by the example there may be jobs you just can not do due to illness/disability but plenty of others that you can.
Goes right along with the Gov' reasoning behind ESA etc *runs for cover*0 -
Note = it does say that you have to have the agreement of the employer who you are claiming ssp from.
I can understand that, i suppose doing another job, in some cases could hinder the recovery therefore ends up with the first employer paying ssp for longer.
It surprises me how many people dont know that lots of companies have to fork out this ssp and not be able to reclaim it from the government.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
