Not posted on this board for a while so thought i'd post an update for all those who supported me through my darkest times.
I am slowly paying off my debt now, my folks cleared my credit cards and loan and overdraft and i am now paying them back at an affordable amount each month.
It's tight but not as tight as being left with nothing every month like i was before, i even have a little bit of money to go out now and again.
Been very careful with shopping and managed to get all my toiletries for the next 2 months on a BOGOF spree at boots with a £10 piggypoint voucher so didnt cost me a thing! very proud of myself.
Have sold lots of bits on ebay and this has meant i can advertise my car on autotrader for the last 6 weeks. Wish someone would just buy the flippin thing!
I have been going to the GA meeting regularly and although i dont feel like i am getting anything out of them i do feel a sense of "belonging". So will keep going until I either get bored, or really feel like i am wasting my time. I havent had the urge to gamble since 19th May but do sometimes wonder whether i would go back to it once my debt is clear. At the moment i dont feel 100% positive that i wouldnt.
Anyway, I am a lot better now, slowly putting on a few pounds in weight, sleeping much better (when the band are practising) and am much happier in general. I dont feel like my life isn't worth living anymore and am pleased to say that right now I CAN COPE
Thanks to everyone for their support over the last few months.

i am really pleased to hear that your situation is improving. you've done really well.
i suppose, a sense of belonging is a good thing (look at the progress you made just being on here!). so stick with GA, it mightn't be helping at the minute when you have yourself under control, but they might be quite useful if the urges get too much for you to cope. is there anybody you can talk to one on one in the group, to whom you can put your questions and concerns about what you are getting out of the group? all in all, i'm still very proud that you haven't gambled for such a long time. well done you :T

Hello cant cope,
I remember your original post - maybe you should link to it if you can find it so others can read it too? What an inspiration - keep going to those meetings and I'm sure you will overcome the gambling compulsion!
Well done - I'm really proud of you

I hope this helps someone else. Things can get better. I had to get my lowest before admitting i needed help. I was just about managing to pay my debts but then having to draw out what i had paid off just to live on.
Now i see my debt going down

That's great! And I think you should change your sig...don't be embarrassed about paying it off by July 2009 - that's only 3 years away!! Fantastic!
Well done on all that you've achieved so far. You sound like you are coping so much better and I agree to perhaps changing your user name!
