Nowhere near ready

Daughter is getting married on the 6th feb, that's a week on saturday...............................

right and i know were nowhere near ready, and it is probably down to the fact that i have a lazy bride and groom, well they are not that bad, but they in the process of moving house, and getting that ready, and the wedding seems to have taken a back seat.

Were having a church wedding and that is sorted, but the problem is the meal afterwards, were having it at a local restaurant, and there is no table decorations included.

we are going to see the man tomorrow, to give him peoples choices of meals, and discuss the seating arrangements with him.

He says that he doesn't have a problem with us decorating the tables, but we have to do it ourselves on the morning, but i don't have the time, so i have a dilema.

Do we just sit around plain wooden tables, or do i get my friends to decorate it, they would do it for me, wedding is 12.00pm so my friends could go there and sort it out for me, i've not asked them, but i know they would.

Next problem, do i just decorate the top table and leave the others, i'm not bothered about the chairs.

But i was thinking of something like white table clother all around the table, and pale blue ones done in a triangle on the top, with some pale blue and white ribbon twisted around, with a few balloons dangling.

On the guests table i could just put white table cloths and a blue square one in the middle, i could get a few candles and confetti scattered around.

My problem is do i buy paper table cloth for round the edges or do i go for proper cotton, and if so does anyone know where i can get this from cheap.

And is it hard to do this, and am i asking my friends to much.

Or does anyone know anyone in the st helens area that decorated tables

or should i ask the owner could he get one of the waitresses come in earlier and decorate the tables, and i will pay her to do it.

also how do i/we attach table cloth to the table without using staples, because i don't imagine the owner would like it.

things i/we still need to do

print the order of services
buy bridsemaid shoes
sort out their clothes for the homeymoon, they are going on, on the monday after

and i'm sure i have missed loads out

i'm sorry for waffling on, but these tables are doing my head in now, as i would want to do them myself but being the mother of the bride, and a 12.00pm wedding that reall isnt' going to happen is it................

thanks for reading this....................stressed mum

    Annnndddd breathe!

Don't sweat it, people will remember the wedding not the tables. If it can be done, fine. If it can't then chill!
Print out the order of service, will take 1/2 hour.
BM dresses= find them online, ring up the store and pick up.
Honeymoon clothes? I am thinking my jeans and a comfy jumper!

hehehe - as Franny says - CHILL.....What do the B&G want? decorated tables? I think it would be nice to decorate them some how....and I don't think it's too much to ask a friend/friends for help.Plain white cloths - but I would look at getting cloth over layers too - you know that you can hire them, instead of buying them? You could even consider just getting lengths of fabric and using them as runners instead?I wish I lived closer- this is the sort of thing that I love to do - add the bit of sparkle to the event.Don't let this get to you though - the church is booked - that's the main part!!! x

Thanks i've poured a vodka and tonic and feel a bit better now

Were off to the restaurant tomorrow night to hand the meal plans in, i'm gonna have a word with the owner, and see what he says, and also take measurements of tables, there is only 44 of us during the day, so it's not a massive wedding.

But i just want it to be nice, i'm going to ask him how busy he is on friday and if he isnt' he has a upstairs, and i'll ask him can we have our reception up there, and i could go round on the friday and decorate it, i know what my problem is, i want to do the tables myself.

It's bridesmaid shoes i need, the dresses have been made

night time is a massive do, for 300, well that's how many i've invited, but i've had little replies back...........so i don't know how many to cater for.

we have a live band, and i'm gonna ask the woman who is doing the wedding buffet can she decorate the table really nice for us.

my daughter and her husband to be are spending more time decorating their new house, i wanted them to stay with us, till after the wedding, then when they come back from honeymoon move in, but they just want to be in it nowl..........which i can understand.

I dont' think that paper table cloths will look good will they?
  • I would take a trip to Ikea if you've got one local to you. You can do most things in there. Depending on the tables you don't need cloths - are they nice tables or do they need cloths?
Also poundland for champagne bubbles - there have been comments on the quality but still a nice touch as a decoration.
Tesco have some stuff in their bigger stores.

Shoes - what is the spec needed? How many? Colour? Size? Price? We might be able to help find some online.

The printing shouldn't take long, and the clothes - if they are old enough to get married then they are old enough to sort their clothes out!!!

Whoever is the Mum of the bridesmaid, ask if she could buy the shoes and reimburse her.

The honeymoon clothes, I'm sure the bride and groom are big enough to sort their own clothes out aren't they??

Printing the order of service ~ are they all ready to go and just need printing? Who is meant to be printing them? Can't they get done this week?

Don't fret about the tables, what does the bride and groom want to do about them?

If they aren't bothered about the tables, leave them as they come.

If they want them decorating, is there anyone they know who could do it for them?

Don't forget, it's their wedding, not yours, so try and relax otherwise you'll be a nervous wreck come the day, besides the happy couple lol!

I was just about to say what Dizzie has said, do the B&G want you to do anything, they may be perfectly happy with how it is and may just want a no fuss laid back day.

I would sit them down and ask them first, we get so many threads on here about interfereing MIL's and i'm sure you would hate it if they were saying this about you.

I'm sure they're not but I would ask before you start stressing unnecessarily

I agree with the poster that said don't cloth the tables if they don't need it.

Maybe you could get some balloon decorations (most balloon companies will do the set up for you) and then get a friend to just sprinkle some confetti on the tables and add the bubbles etc?

If the restaurant can let you decorate on Friday, then that may satisfy your need to make sure that everything is perfect...!

I know that you're trying to make it special for them - it is lovely - just don't make yourself ill with the stress!!

    Hi

Thanks i know your all right

But daughter is happy for me to do it, as she knows i'm a creative person, i make my own cakes/card etc,

Son in law is busy doing their house up, and has said he is happy for us to do anything, all he wants is to marry my daughter.

I'm not stressing to much about it, i'm just a bit peeved, as i know how i want it, and i know i could do it, and i want to do it...............

The shoes we are looking for a cream pair of full shoes, about 3 inches high.

We have balloons ordered for the night, i'm now thinking along the lines of a white/cream table cloth, and on e-bay somebody is selling a roll of organza ribbon, i could order the pale blue, and do that as a runner down the middle,

I've bought bride/groom name place hoders, they are a tux and a wedding dress, i've bought cake boxes from pound land, again they are in the shape of wedding dress/ tuxedos, and we are putting lottery tickets in them as favours.

Ive got those bubbles from poundland as well, and some crystals from home bargain, i didn't actually get those mirror plates from home bargain when they had them in, and i had them in my hand as well, and couldn't decide.

Ah well, i think that we will be ok

OH and i'm more than made up with my outfit..........except.................and their is always one, i'm not happy with my shoes, but i've seem a lovely pair in new look sale, but can i find them in size 5 for love or money, can i heck.

As always, get them to check stock in other shops....

If they are in Glos, I can pick them up for you...!!

Bridesmaid shoes - BHS will have some, get the bridesmaid to go and get them - save you a job, as they will have to try them on anyway!!

Organza ribbon as a runner sounds lovely - and very, very pretty.....
You are pretty much there, now, aren't you.....

Make sure you take photos for us next week...!! x

    right i've calmed down now

daughter ordered bridsemaid shoes out of the catalogue last night, and they are lovely, satin full shoe with a bow on the back with a 3 inch heel, and they look lovely

been to see the venue tonight, it is just a restaurant that is opening during the day for a meal, the tables are wooden

    here is the link
    http://www.lefrogbistro.com/restaurant/default/about.asp

he showed me some photos of the top table that other wedding parties have decorated, 1 person just pinned under the top table paper table cloth then hung twisted ribbon round.

But the paper looked a bit cheap
so i'm thinking if table cloths are expensive using cream bed sheets, or would that look cheap.

I'm thinking of pinning the sheet at the table where we are sitting, and using it as a tablecloth, and having it hanging down the front of the table to the floor, and then running the organza ribbon, down the centre of the table, i suppose if i could get a lot of cheap bedsheets i could do all of the other tables,

what do you think, would plain cream bedsheets look cheap or what?

Now my head is aching thinking will people know it's bedsheets or will they not notice as they will only see the nice tables.......................

    still not got my shoes............lol
