apple iphone 3GS query
Hi,
I just got my apple iphoen 3GS (16GB), brand new from ebay. It is jailbroken and is locked to O2. The guy who sold the phone mentioned it comes with 1 year warranty.
My question is, it says on the back of the phone that the phone is designed by apple, california and is assembled in china. Is that the case normally?? I hope this is not a china version. In that case I am going to return it to the seller and lodge a complaint.
secondly, how does the warranty come generally. does it come as a paperform which says warranty on it? The 2 small books i received are 1) says finger tips on top 2) important product info guide.
any help would be much appreciated.

Jailbreaking violates Apple's T&C - so even a proper jail broken iPhone won't be covered by Apple.
Hope you didn't confuse unlocking with jail breaking.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
They are made in China and say on the back.
You can check your warranty status here just enter your serial number.

BTW if the 4th and 5th digits of the serial are higher than 39 its possible you will lose the jailbreak/unlock if you switch the phone off.0 -
What's the difference between unlocking and jail breaking?
I thought they were the same, but unlocking was done via the provider/manufacturer and jail breaking was done in a dodgy shop in a shopping centre.0 -

Unlocking allows it to be used on any mobile network. Jailbreaking effectively hacks the Apple software and allows non Apple approved software to be installed on the phone.0 -

Don't understand why people would want to use anything OTHER than Apple. It rocks!!! :rotfl:0 -

For the same reason that bloke has managed to hack the PS3 I suppose, because the manufacturers say you can't.0 -

True.
Although you can restore the iPhone using iTunes and Apple would never know.
I have a Jailbroken 3GS and it can now do things I wanted it to that it couldn't do before, no regrets.I would have used my own initiative if someone would have told me to!0 -

can somebody tell me how to restore the iphone using iTunes.
I checked the warranty on the apple website using my serial number, and it shows that my warranty is valid until december 2010.
Does that mean eventhough the phone is jailbroken (as mentioned by the seller on the ebay), do i still have the warranty?? i am confused.0 -

No, making those kind of changes to your phone invalidates your warranty.0 -
