Blackberry Curve 8520 (PAYG)

Hi,

Im looking to get a BB curve 8520 on payg and am looking to see if anyone can find a cheaper deal than £149 (handset) + £20 top up, therfore Total of £169 inclusive of £20 credit. This is with Orange and i have also been told by Orange staff that if i or my partner work for the NHS (Partner does) i can get £20 off the handset cost.

Therefore the challange is £149 or less for a handset with £20 credit loaded on it.

This seems pretty good to me but need some valuable advice from this forum.

thanks for the help.

  • My sister had a good look around the other day and the orange one does seem the cheapest. have you tried ebay?
  • Yes. Thought about ebay but decided to go for a brand new one. Im always (rightly or wrongly) dubious about 'new' things off ebay.

    http://www.play.com/Mobiles/Mobile/4-/13067896/Blackberry-8520-Curve-T-Mobile-Pre-Pay-Pay-As-You-Go-Mobile-Phone/Product.html

was looking at the one in Carphonewarehouse
    £179.99 plus £10 topup
does anyone know if the blackberry will be unlock from carphone?
phones in the past i had from them have been, but with it been a blackberry on orange dont know?? if i get it at Orange web site £170, then i have been qouted £25 to unlock £195 total
    thankyou
  • Thanks for info.

That one on play.com is down as T mobile. How easy are BB's to unlock?.

Looking at it the Orange deal still looks best.....unless there is a discount code for play.com.....
  • Been looking to see if what i can get a bold for as the spec for these are better. Anyone got first hand experience of both?. Is it a real case of you get what you pay for?.

Seem to be looking at approx £350 for a handset. Is it really worth approx £200 more?.
  • I went ahead and got the one from Orange, it arrived yesterday and I called to port my number. Worth mentioning that they have given me another £10 credit for porting my number. AND you get cashback if you are a member of quidco and go through quidco to order.
  • Thanks for the info.

I think i'll go with the Orange one and see if i can get an extra £10 out of them like you (miss_independent).

just to let you know i got mine 'BlackBerry Curve 8520 'in carphonewarehouse on line for £159 +£10 topup,£169 total. its £179.95 plus £10 topup, £189.95total
i went into one of there stores and asked them would they match the price of orange web site £149 (handset) + £20 top up, he didnt belive me the price and checked online, but when he asked his manager he said no.
so i went home rang up carphonewarehouse and said the same as i said in shop and asked if they would match price with orange web site, and after a minute been left on hold he said yes to £169 thats includes £10 topup and he said phone would be unlock as well to use any sim. so a bargain, my daughter will be happy :-) so its worth haggling on phone for a bargain .
