I sent a secure message to Egg and they quickly replied, telling me when my anniversary month is.  This was also followed up by an email a few days into the month.

    £15,000 at 0% - very nice.

    :D

Congrats on your £270+ gift from egg ;)

    Boy are Egg generous ;D

They were prompt with their reply and it then clicked. Anniversary month is obviously the month of expiry of your card !
Don't assume you can figure out when your anniversary month is - it's best to phone and check, and write it in your diary. When I phoned to ask when my anniversary month was, the agent told me straight away - I didn't have to send a secure message and wait for a reply.

Egg can be contacted on 01332 395919. You can access your account over the phone with the same details that you use on the web site, except that you only have to give two characters from your password, instead of your whole password.

I'd always rather have it in writing. If there is any dispute later you'll be ok if you can produce a message, but on shakey ground if it was just verbal.

I'm trying to sort this out with egg.

My hubby says he wasn't told in a phone call that the offer was for the anniv. month only. I don't re-call him getting any emails about it either.

EGG tape all calls, so a record IS kept. They are currently checking back their tape for me....How you can get access to it to check what they claim I don't know.

Hmmm...sceptical as I am, I need more than just the voice on the phone to say the tape says this or that.

I think that illustrates my point nicely. Always better to have things in writing.

Egg do state the terms on their web site here. Or to save you looking it up:
you'll get our 0% offer for up to five months on balance transfers in the month of your anniversary
Unless your husband asked them a specific question or asked for an explanation of the anniversary offer I wouldn't have thought Egg were obliged to rehash the terms and conditions whenever you phone up. It's up to you to read them or ask if you are not clear.
  • If you have requested not to be informed of special offers, they won't e-mail you. Or so says a reply I have when I asked for confirmation of my anniversary date (it's in 31 minutes!!)
    Ethical moneysaver
  • i was emailed before the start of my anniversary month ... boy did i feel special :)

also, they have been running (for me) anyway a reduced rate BT for january at 1.9% (i think) which came in pretty handy. do they do this regularly for reduced rates?

ive only had the card just over a year and have had 2 lots of 5 months (start and aniiversary) 0% BT and 5 months of 1.9% BT

are EGG just super generous or what?

Yes I know, but I'm not sure if that bit was on their site at the time of my husbands query, no email...so....

My point is not that they should change T&Cs during a phone call, but that if they haven't made things clear to us whilst explaining the offer (I feel that which way the onus lies is debatable) they may make an exception. Worth a try, as I truly did not know the offer was good only during the anniv. month, and I have been successful with this tack before.

In other words....If you don't ask, you don't get!

Aside from that...I see also a lot of peeps have the notion that the anniv. offer was only for the ONE day of the actual anniversary.
