Charmouth Beach is great for fossil hunting, on both occasions we have found lots, failing that there is a shop that sells them if you have to cheat!!!
Portland has a lighthouse and great views over the rocks which the older ones may or may not enjoy clambering over.. Next to the the sealife centre there are other attractions, the main beach has lots of activites as well..Not sure if the dinosaur musuem is still at Dorchester or not.
Have a great time, we have a caravan at a Haven park in Weymouth aswell, and at whichever one you go to has swimming pools and kids clubs.
Somewhere we were going to try is Farmer Palmers near Poole, would suit the younger children i expect0 -
I think the Dinosaur Museum you're referring to is in Dorchester. Also in Dorchester, there is a Tutankhamun Museum, Teddy Bear Museum, terracotta warrior museum.
Portland Bill is the lighthouse and has a visitor centre.
Swanage is a dinky place.
You're not far from Poole...or Bournemouth for that matter. May be more going on for the older kids in Bournemouth. From Poole, you can go on boat trips to nearby Brownsea Island.0 -
Falmer palmers is a must with young kids, organford near poole. We go to weymouth regularly, and our time is filled by.......farmer palmers (kiddies farm with lots of activities plus indoor soft play, bouncy castles, go karts etc) , alice in wonderland theme park near bournemouth (small but you can use tesco vouchers) weymouth sealife centre (often get bogof vouchers-we use merlin pass via tesco deals), spend a day on swanage beach go there from norden park and ride on the swanage steam train. Weymouth itself, huge beach to spend a day on. Have done monkey world before, also lulworth castle, abbotsbury (tesco vouchers) where the kids can feed the swans (11am i think). Lots of other odds and ends too in poole, bournemouth etc.
Havens are great, just never buy the chips on site (!) go 5mins outside the door to the local chippie for tons more and tons cheaper! Big asda in weymouth just past beach and a lidl too, so easy to stock up for packed lunches etc.
Enjoy! Brewers fayre (the lodmoor) next to sealife centre but often busy.Mortgage free 04/03/2025. Thanks to this site and lots of overpayments bit by bit.
Next stop: house repairs, holiday fund, replace our very old cars, more financial security/early retirement savings.🤞0
