Does unlocking your iphone mean you lose all data on it?
Hi everyone,
I was wondering as the title of the post suggests:
If I unlock my iphone (through o2 so no jailbreaking or anything), then do what I need to do with itunes, then place a T-Mobile SIM card in it, will I lose my texts and all other data?
Does anyone know?
Has anyone done this and can confirm that it's ok?
Many thanks in advance! :T

Unlocking and jailbreaking are two different things.
Unlocking = you can use any SIM card, can be officially done by O2 or other vendors.
Jailbreaking = allows you to remove restrictions on phone (you became like Admin in Unix for your phone). However, it may void your warranty by Apple as they do not officially support jailbreaking.
Neither operation should lose your data, but you are strongly advised to make a full backup before doing anything.
There are few configuration seeting you may need to do again after inserting a different SIM though. But nothing too complicated.Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.0 -
Thanks,
I will have to check the info on backing up!
Just a little bit worried, just want to keep the "conversations" in my text messages without losing them - a bit sad really, but hey, that's me!0
