Oh I agree - let them trip themselves up

I have had runnings with a fair few people - including having to put in official complaints to their directors (and these were clients...). Because they were so unprofessional that it became impossible to make progress with the business relationship. It's my last resort though and if it happens I make sure I have people who can back me up, ideally let the boss see it for themselves and make sure I can present a calm and professional case for my complaint, how I feel it could be resolved, what I have done so far to resolve it etc. Last time I did it the person was moved sideways within days
Same here- I had a line manager patronising me in a meeting, in front of his superior (a woman) who just sat in silence, embarrassed to death- I very calmly asked him to please stop talking to me that tone. 'I listened while you speak- please let me finish saying what I am saying'- 'Blah, blah, blah...' this time raising his voice. Again, very calmly (even though I was boiling inside) I asked him not to raise his voice at me and respect me as I respected him in all situations. The fact that his manager didn't do anything about it really hit me and I realised there was a big problem there. I made an official complaint (I had several examples, with dates, of situations where he had behaved badly)- a month later he was out of the company where he had worked for 15 years. As I suspected (becasue of his mood swings and bad temper after lunch), he turned up drunk to work more than once and had a very serious drinking problem that management had decided to ignore for years, as he was very good at his job (when sober).
My complaint was the last straw for them, I think, and they got rid of him very quickly- a very sad end to what could have been a very successful and enjoyable career0 -
I occasionally came across patronising people when at work. Normally I just held my tongue and remembered the saying "Never let your pride come before your mortgage".
Now I'm no longer restrained in this way, I just stare at them, open my mouth in mock amazement, raise my eyebrows and upturn the palms of my hands in astonishment. These gestures usually say more than any words could. My reaction registers without anybody being able to accuse me of being rude in return.0
