  • All or nothing.

Why settle for something that you will never be satisfied with and think, if I had shelled out another £xxx, I could have got this extra feature. If I can't afford the best, then I simply won't buy it!
  • I treated myself to some Bose speakers for my iPod, cost about £300+ and they're the dogs dangly bits and worth every penny.

My OH thought they cost about £40 until he saw an advert somewhere, the look on his face was bl**dy priceless :rotfl:

    I'm sorry....

BOSE = Buy Other Sound Equipment.

Granted they do sound very good indeed but not a patch on other equipment costing the same if you shop around.

For that price you could have got a nice Denon Micro System

But I certainly agree that excellent sounding stuff is a great way to splash out!

    On a sofa.

There is a shop out there who seems to have a permanent sale on. However from past experience some of the sofa's seem to be made out of fresh air and cotton wool.

I've just spent a lot on a sofa from John Lewis and I have to say that it was worth it. I would never again go for a cheap sofa.

I have the most wonderful sofa. It's a large 3 seater and 2 armchairs. Not sure where it came from but bought it for £50 - not used and it's the greatest quality I've ever had. What a bargain :D

I just spent £268 (including shipping and import VAT) on a pair of limited edition trainers that I've wanted for about 20 years and have just been re-released. It's crazy money for a pair of shoes that I'll most likely never wear - they're too precious! - but just having them and looking at them* makes me SO happy that overpriced as they are, I think they're worth it!

    * Yes, I'm aware that this sounds weird.

not sure if you meant normal shopping or eating out. Anyway have you done a blind taste test? Get someone to give you same product from two different places, remove all packaging and then see if you could taste and tell the difference and identify which product is from where. i think that food quality is a lot about perception rather than reality....others may think differently...

Personally I'll by the best of what I can afford. Dearest isn't always best I know but more often that not, it is.

i think spending technique /skills (knowing where to go, how to get a good deal, good taste) is far more important than spending power. i always go cheap but i don't think others would necessarily notice.

some people spend a fortune and they look a state, as does their home, have a car that is constantly breaking down etc. others spend little yet look stylish, have a nice home and a tidy and reliable vehicle.

    you can't buy style.

Indeed, there's a reason why they advertise so heavily in TV mags, Readers' Digest, and that kind of thing - because the readership of those publications doesn't usually know much about audio tech ;)

I'd go to Richer Sounds instead anyday :)
