Not practical for MSE I would think.
1) Doing so would increase server processing load for no good reason.
2) The images in question are not hosted on MSE servers. If the forum was to generate a new resized version, that would then need to be hosted on MSE's own servers. That is:a) a waste of MSE's server space and bandwidth.HOWEVER, there may be a way to get the user's browser to automatically resize. My version on Firefox does so on some pages without needing to re-host the image.
b) Likely to violate copyright/IP, if people happen to post copyrighted images.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Was just going to post something simaler Fermi
Though it has made wonder how you resize linked images anyway, all the resizing solutions i have seen so far require them to be uploaded to the site in question (Insert confused smilie, followed by a rolleyes for having to type all this out followed by a  ...oh there is still a smilie for that:p)Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0 -

Dunno. My HTML is rusty or non-existent.
However it does happen.
Quite a few times I've right clicked on an image in a web page to "view image" only to find once displayed on its own out of the original page it is in fact many times the size rendered by the original page.
It's obviously do-able, without having to compromise site resources.Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB

Hmmm, now you have said that, it may be doable in HTML, if you have a dedicated corisponding CSS div containier, i think???, will have to play with that thought, but it may have some unpredictable results (squishing or stretching)Thats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0 -

Lost me there. :rotfl:
All I know is, "right click" "view source image" and.......

It can, but the down side, it works the other way too. so small images would be enlarged, now if you throw in some PHP, to test the image size first, and only apply the div/class if it is bigger than X size it might work, but not sure how much that would add to the server load, as the server side would have to do the decidingThats it, i am done, Blind-as-a-Bat has left the forum, for good this time, there is no way I can recover this account, as the password was random, and not recorded, and the email used no longer exits, nor can be recovered to recover the account, goodbye all ………….0

I'll take your word for it.
I know how to write some pretty swish high end physics code, but resizing an image on a web page is not my thing. :cool:Free/impartial debt advice: National Debtline | StepChange Debt Charity | Find your local CAB
