  • the flat i bought was repossesed and we still get letters demanding money. i have opened a few - one that came in a very scary red envelope and was worried about someone coming to get it and have had letters thretening to take them to court - i dont read them now but i dont think id have the heart to pass on the address thought thankfully i dont have it. I sounds like the previous owner had some serious medical problems. You never know whats happened - or atleast i dont
  • No way would I pass the details on. Can not think of one reason why I should help these people collect their money!!!
  • No. I wouldn't want it done to me, whether it be debt collectors or even old friends that I'd rather not see again. Leave the past alone.

I wouldn't pass the details on; I'd just send any letters back marked "not known at this address". If bailiffs arrived at my door, I'd invite them to wait outside whilst I dealt with the accompanying police to verify my identity.

A lot of people would moan vociferously if a business passed their details on and would cry 'data protection'.

No wonder very few people bother to leave their address when they move.

I have my post redirected by Royal Mail if I move, so no need to leave my address, but I wouldn't leave a pile of my debt for someone else to deal with either!

Not quite the same but my sister emigrated 4+ years ago, left debts, my elderly mother started getting letters from debt collectors - threatening bailliffs, did I tell them my sister's address abroad? Yes I did and would not think twice about doing it again. Those who run up debts should deal with them.

    Definately return to sender
  • modern day debt collectors are a bunch of ......, harrassing people at all times of the day, selling on lists of debt to other agencies, as for the threatening letters, well............, words fail me, they frighten the lives out of some totally innocent people, ban them all i say
  • This is an easy one to answer - do exactly what the previous tenant wanted. If they left an address, pass it on, if they're doing a runner, they shouldn't have left an address. Simple. :-)
