Sky have impressed me for a change.

In October I finally scrapped Sky to go to Tiscali. I had had 9 years of Sky Tv with soaring prices whereby we ket having to reduce the package so that in the end we were paying them £28 for the basic package + kids package each month. Tiscali in comparison were a really good deal, £35 per month to include TV package with entertainment package, Kids mix and Picturebox films. I was particularly impressed with the On demand content and the catch up facility.

Unfortunately for us, we only ever had 4gb on the phone line so it was always a concern that we wouldn't be able to get the full TV service. Now our line has deteriorated so much that when the engineer came out last week he confirmed that we can no longer have the TV facility.

Well that left us only with Sky as an option, BT vision ruled out due to the bad telephone line, and Virgin ruled out as we are not in a cable area.

We called Sky with tail between our legs and for the first time in 9 years were impressed with there customer service. Having researched their site we knew that they were offering 6 packages (not movies or sport) for £23 so asked for this package. Also because the Tiscali box also recorded and allowed us to pause live TV we wanted that facility too, so had mentally prepared ourselves for the £50 box fee and the £30 engineer fee. My hubby said he needed a few hours to think about it and to check with me that I was happy to switch back. Sky called back 2 hours later to say they were offering us a free Sky+ box and no engineer fee as well as giving us 25% of the package fee for 6 months. Needless to say we snapped their hands off for this offer and now am paying £17.77 for 6 months.

In my opinion I preferred the TV facility that Tiscali were offering but cant' complain about the good package that Sky have offered me.

After the 6 months is up your sky bill will increase to what it was again and they won't let you leave. Just be careful... Good luck!

Have to Say, every experience I've had with Sky (bar one.. which was technically an idiot engineer and not a customer service issue) has been a delight.

everything went smoothly.. getting broadband and phoneline from them in coming weeks
