Flushing Rads

Mt friends a plumber, so i asked him why my radiators were warm at the top and cool at the bottom?

he reckons my radiators need flushing out, is this right and is it about £600 to do?? the temperature says the room should be 70degrees and i'm only getting 50 deg, very annoying to pay for it and my 1bed groundfloor flat with noone above me is freezing unless i keep the electric fire on!!

Also my pressure gauge is in the red near max on 4, how do i get this back to the required between 1 and 2?

£600 would be for 'power flushing' and that seems very expensive for a 1 bed flat.

It is not that difficult to take the radiators off and run a hose through them.

  • Is that worst case scenerio?
  • turn off both valves either side cover floor have clothes handy and dish disconnect one side catch water in dish/bucket or bung up hole disconnect other side lift radiator off take outside flush out with hosepipe-- refit-- even 200 is a rip just take it easy and be wary as water will be like sludge
