I don't know what you mean here. There are no new versions of Sygate firewall. The version you have linked to above (5.6) was released on the 24th Oct 2004. The company were bought out by Symantec, and stopped producing the free firewall completely. They also stopped doing updates for these products. At least the free version of Zonealarm won't be nearly two years old (support for W98 was only stopped this year).
I just think it is a silly idea to uninstall one unsupported product for another unsupported product without any real reason. Zonealarm is also a very good firewall. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Sygate has never had updates only new versions, and Zonealarm is updated, so thats why Zonealarm wont work in the sense of it wont benefit Win98 users. I know all about the buyout so posting that was a bit irrelevant0

Hmmm. Since a 'new version' and an 'update' both involve changes, new code and perhaps new features, hopefully for the better, I think you'll need to explain precisely what you see as the difference between the two terms. Unless you (and the two original software firewall manufacturers!) are being equivalently pedantic, I can see very little practical difference in this context.

PS Perhaps the OP appreciates the fact that it becomes increasingly expensive for software makers to support old operating systems which have a reducing customer base -- particularly when they weren't actually charging for the software in the first place!0
