    Cherry Brandy and cherry vodka.
Bottle with some sugar syrup and the alcohol. Keep them in the dark and give a jiggle each day. Great Christmas presents.

oooooo, i've got a cherry tree and its got loads this year. I was going to get the ladder out and pick them all tomorrow.

Is now an ok time to do this?

Can I be dim and ask what sugar syrup is? Is it something really special or something that I've prob got in my cupboard but dont know about it? Do I just put a blob in? Do I shake it often? How long will it take to be ready?

Can I taste it often too? ;)

oooooo, I'm all excited. Home made cherry Vodka ka ka ka :D

If it a single cherry tree then it it likely to be sour or bird cherries.

If there is more than one cherry tree around then it is likely to be sweet as they need each other to pollinate each other.

And if you don't ask to pick the cherries then it is stealing.

I have vivid memories of when I was little going with my nan to pick some cherries along a main road but nowhere near anyones house. Then this woman came running out of nowhere and starting screaming like a banshee for picking her cherries. My nan being my nan threw the lot all over her and said "Here you are have them back then". But I wouldnt advise you do that.

We've only got 1 cherry tree in our garden and we get tons of cherries every year and they are sweey and juicy and luverly :D

I dont think any neighbours have got any either

Some modern sweet cherry trees are advertised as self-fertile.
The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.

sugar syrup is just sugar dissolved in water, don't boil incase you end up with toffee :D . Syrup mixes easier with the vodka. Keep the bottles/jars in a dark cupboard and shake once a day. I would also deseed the cherries before covering with the vodka. Fill Jar with cherries pour insome syrup and then cover with vodka. Leave for at least 3 weeks before testing. the longer you leave it the stronger the cherry flavour.
