Perhaps you should've thought about that before you decided to have the kids instead of carrying on regardless and expecting everyone else to fork out for your lifestyle choice. rolleyes.gif

Here here! If I had a baby now (an irresponsible thing to do given my age/personal situation etc) I'd be better off than I am working full time...I'd get a flat and not have to pay council tax and loads of benefits! I'd probably have more money than i do now! I really don't think people should have children if it is not financially viable, it's not fair on the kids. Labour have made it too easy to get money for free....like my ADHD student, sorry, I am paying taxes that go towards his bus pass?? WHHHAAATT??!!!
Kids are growing up in households where no one has ever worked and are being brought up to think that it is a career option to go on benefits, what the hell has happened?! I know Maggie didn't help...looking at impoverished areas - many are in ex mining communities centres of industry etc but Labour certainly haven't done anything for social responsibility!

bootski the 'we' I was talking about was everyone else!!

Personally I feel as if I have 'seen the light' (don't like the phrase but it will have to do!) - realising that home happiness is where it is at! :)

  • Those that are on the up are generally content. Those that are on their way down (or are already down) are generally discontent.

It's never really been any different.......

A good example is the firebrand lefties who want to "redistribute" wealth when the're younger and own very little. Very discontented.

Well, until they get themselves into Parliament, aquire a couple of Jags, nice houses with taxpayer funded mortgages and a jetset lifestyle with fabulous pension rights. They tend to forget about the "wealth redistribution" agenda quite quickly. Suddenly they are far more content.:)

When things are going well for you....:)
    When they're not......

Besides, having a good moan is FUN:T

"I have therefore I am" dontcha think?!

Our priorities are all different, my mum spends a ridiculous amount of money on things that I think are pointless but then she is happy and can afford it, so good for her I guess. She is happy with what she has,as I am happy with what I have...what we have is very differnt though. I don't think there is an "entitlement" though, it surely should be about whether it is useful/makes you happy/does some good as opposed to "I'll have it just because I can".
If you are that ashamed you could ebay the bag and use the money for a 'good cause' I suppose!!

My Ma is addicted to QVC, I wouldn't even like to speculate what she spends there. And the last thing she would do is apologise to anyone.

I am not ashamed enough to get sell it off. It is a really nice bag.

Anyhow its true - I have a termite. Heard this really annoyong chumnp chump chump. Lives in my coffee table imported from Mexico about 8 years ago. I thought it was snow falling, defrosting down my chimney, but no. Followed the noise around the whole area of that side of the house and ended up sticking my ear to the coffee table. It's a termiter alright.

I've decided to let him 'ave it. I't will propably take him/ her a few years to eat it all up. I doubt it's got swine flu cause it's at least 7 years old but can't promise it doesn't have some other virus

Oh Crickey! i feel like a fool now, I thought "we" was "us"

Well that was what I was trying to say, If you think you've seen the light than you've all the happiness you need.

    For now

But you shouldn't talk for everyone else unless they've explicitaly asked you to represent them.

Otherwise you're just making assumptions, and most people don't like that:o

true...but I suppose this whole thread is about the state of society and as we are not all anthropologists or sociologists we will have to make some assumptions in order to put forward our points of view, which is essentially all I have done. I wish i knew the answers to why our society is why it is...but an opinion will have to do!

Yes yes, sorry, think we posted almost at the same time but you just beat me to it and so yours came out below wageslave's rather than mine.
I could furnish a flat now with £600...let alone 1975!! :) I hope that bag has a blummin house inside it...or that it came with a free yacht or something?!

Remember, no Freecycle, no ebay, no Charity shops in 1975. An unfurnished 1 bed flat. We blagged a bed, a cooker and a carpet and a few other things but no one had a spare bucket or mop or loo brush for that matter - it's amazing how much you need if you start from scratch.

Wageslave, my DD has two radleys and can't use em both at once
It's great when they grow up.
