Thanks to everyone for advice and suggestions, sorry I havent been on in ages to update but of course now I've made a big mistake I'm back!!:o

Positive updates.....did partial balance transfer to old card at 2.9%, have been initially accepted for santander card which is offering 15mths at 0%, just waiting for card to arrive and see what credit limit is, hoping to get rest of Halifax card over and maybe something else too.

Now for the bad news......I'm such a stupid idiot! I checked online banking, worked out what was to come out and decided to pay some off Littlewoods and Next bills now even though payments aren't due until end of month, I also transferred extra over to savings.....except I did my sums wrong and forgot about the cheque to the childminder which hadn't come out yet and also didn't realise I had filled up with petrol (£48) and it hadn't come out yet! Now we're going to go overdrawn and get a bank charge!!:(

I'm soooooo annoyed at myself, all eager to get paying off I don't do sums properly and we're now left with not only NO MONEY til next week we're also going to get a charge. :(

Hubby doesn't get paid til next Tues and my savings is with IF so takes 3-5 days to move money back into current account, I've done this but it won't get over in time to cover what is coming out. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Anyway to finish on a positive, we had our big baby scan and all is good plus found out it's a baby boy so extra delighted!

Try phoning bank and asking for temp overdraft for a few days (assuming those things haven't hit your account yet and already made your overdrawn).

At least that way you may avoid unauthorised OD fee.

Congrats on the baby scan.....lovely news

Thanks planning ahead....I rang bank this morning to have the begging conversation and got very nice young man on the phone, ran through with him how it appeared I had done my sums wrong blah blah blah, he then went through our account as to what had come out and what was waiting to come out and said you still have money available *insert confused smiliey*!

So it seems that our online banking gives an "available balance" and also a list of transactions, in the transaction list the petrol and cheque didn't show but they were being processed so had come off available balance *insert rolling eyes smiley*!

In short.....I am NOT losing my mind (completely), I am NOT totally thick and unable to add up and we are NOT left with no money and getting bank charges because I should have more faith in myself and realise I have done OK!:o

Actually have £75 to last this week to do another big shop as freezer is starting to run low and leave some money for a weekend treat for us all.:T

Quite impressed that my £58 shop has lasted 2 weeks with just milk, juice and eggs bought fresh since. Still have a couple of meat things in freezer too but bought too much red meat and we may all die of heart attacks if I don't get some fish or chicken to alternate with! Think my shopping plan still needs some tweaking!:o

Funny how your mindset changes.....a couple of months ago if I had been in the same situation I would have gone and withdrawn cash before everything came out, never worried about bank charges and then probably gone and done a £100 shop and paid on credit card, now I'm in a panic over it and refuse to use CC, even DH was trying to figure out a solution and was going to take CD's/Games to try and get a few pounds!

We've also started a boot sale pile, think it may wait until March/April time so we can have a good clear out before starting to sort things for baby coming but already I look at things round the house with a different eye....nothing is safe and hope we get a good day for it as have juicers/blenders/fondue sets etc all unopened wedding presents (from over 6yrs ago!!) aswell as the usual toys/clothes/general tat!

Since finding out next baby is a boy we have had loads of people saying they are putting things aside, one friend has a bin bag full of brand new boys clothes that her son never wore, another is lending us a swinging crib thing and baby sling/carrier so we will need very little big items.

OK sorry for long post, I should update more often and thanks again to you all.:T
  • Sorry didn't real whole thread but did notice your post about being with o2 ... When I renogitiated my contract on renewal, as well as getting lots of money off, a free phone (that they were trying to get me to pay £100 for) they also offered me their broadband package ... initially I wasn't interested until I realised that it only cost £2.50!

    Just a thought ...
I enjoy a pint of beer each night for it's health benefits. The other pints are for my witty comebacks and flawless dance moves.

I need you to do my negotiating!! Just rang O2 as contract was up, told them I wanted to leave etc etc and ended up getting new phone with unlimited texts, unlimted calls O2 to O2 and 300mins any network for £15/mth. Happy enough with that and will then sell either the new phone or my old one for cash.:)

Just checked MBNA card online......card has not been used since 5/01/10 (that must be a new record!) and also saw I have 'points' with this card which I can get gift vouchers with.....£30 of Next vouchers will go towards paying off that debt!!:T
