  • Back from a 3/4HCook!

    In which I have:
Put away the shopping (yes, Ladies: I returned from school run at 9:30 with the weekend shopping done:j)
Made the base for 2 lasagnes (one for now, one for the freezer)
Made leek and potato soup (cooking now, then will need to be whooshed)
    Emptied the DW
    Made a :coffee:

Am going to sit and drink this, while paying a few bills, then I'll make sandwiches for the freezer and finally get on with the real business of the day: the bathroom!

    Back soon

    MissH
    xxxxx

ETA: good luck Moam and well done for tackling your son's dyslexia good and early.
  • Glad to see your back jinky - you seem to have the respect of lots of people her on FL and I know from posts you would of been sorely missed if you'd of stayed away.

I've still not flown at all this week. The back and hip are slowly getting a little easier and I am seeing the osteopath later today which will hopefully help quite a bit and mean that I can get some flying done tomorrow.

Since starting FL I have managed to keep kitchen surfaces clean and clutter free which is amazing in this house!! Also the sofas are pretty clutter free - apart from folded washing awaiting to go upstairs......

On the subject of sofas, we have 2 leather sofas that are brown (one which I spilled nail varnish on a few years ago and proceeded to remove it with varnish remover and took off all the leather  - but thats a story for another day)
What is the best method/product for cleaning leather sofas?

    Thanks :)

Acetone free nail polish remover and a cotton bud.. dab don't rub.. works on carpet too.. even black polish on beige wool carpet (thank you Tiddles)

baby wipes!! Or a cloth, warm water with either w-up liquid or stardrops

Macpep- yes, it is different in Scotland.....I dont know why - like you, I had my first smear when I was 20 I think. But in England its 25, Im not sure what it is here in Wales.
I had my first one at 16 (OK, it was a while ago, and it may have been because although I had an NHS referral to the gynae I used to see him in the private clinic as it was closer to home... he may well have done it privately and just not charged me for it). I've had them continuously since though.
Greenbee – know what you mean about deadlines, but since you are working with such messers you need to be sure you are up to date so you can sort their screw ups.
I presume it is possible to see which bits you did properly and which bits they didn’t?
The reason I've been asked to sort it is because they can see the difference between what I did and what he did (I write in a different colour, and the content and style is very different) - I told my boss that if it went out for review as it was I wanted my name taken off it (which he thought was strange as I'd done most of the work). The sad thing is, I think the other guy has put as much (if not more) time and effort it, but he just doesn't get it.

MOAM - good luck with the interview. I'm going to be in the office every day w/c 8th so let me know if you feel like catching up for a coffee or going for a lunchtime walk one day.

So far today I've been to the gym, had sports massage on my legs (ouch!) and eaten breakfast. I'm going to load the DW, have a shower and then settle down to get some work cleared. I'll do a list sometime too, as I need to get some flying done before my friend turns up.

I also need to sort out supper and work out if I need to do any shopping. She has a wheat allergy, so I need to avoid that.

I'm thinking some kind of baked chicken dish, with potatoes sliced, layered with leeks and cooked in veg stock, cabbage, broccoli & peas, then some kind of ice cream/meringue/fruit concoction. I don't have time to make meringues though, and I'll need to go into town for soft fruit and ice cream (I thought out of season red berries and green & blacks strawberry ice-cream, maybe drizzled with a little melted chocolate).

I have coffee, milk, yogurt, muesli, fruit, porridge stuff and smoked salmon for breakfast. Guess I'd better get some eggs too. I'm not sure whether she'll be staying for lunch, but hopefully we'll have a decent walk.

oh... and I've finally started losing weight - 1.8kgs this week :D

Lots of healing, soothing vibes and prayers going out to those in need. It sounds as if most of us will be pleased when the week is over.

Pigpen i've just read your post about your DD's friend, how sad, life is so unfair sometimes. I'm sending big hugs for you both.

I'm still waiting for the firemen, they were supposed to be here at 10 so i'm guessing something more important came up. I think i'll go and sling a curry in the SC before i have to pick up Ds2.

Having a productive day today and, apart from ironing, have done all from the list - oh yes, I need to take 30 mins to myself which I'll do this pm with DS.

Just about to walk the dog and run some errands; I always feel so much better after a walk and it really 'blows the cobwebs' away and keeps the black dog at bay. Having a horrific bad hair day today - it's being cut on Tuesday (thankfully) but the fringe is so long I've had to clip it back! DD's needs cutting too (she has a lot of it, just like me) but I could put hers in pigtails whereas I think I'd look a bit daft like that :o

MOAM and Julie, good interview vibes coming at you.

Cant wait for that moment for me - been trying for ages but the scales stubbornly stick at the same level. At least they arent going up and up.

Actually, maybe that's it - the scales are stuck :rotfl: and really Ive lost loads? (In my dreams)

Anyway, no flying for me this morning. Managed to sleep in (by mistake) so didnt get up till 9.15 , then on the way to the kitchen for breakfast, the phone rang. Well I answered it because after all i should have been up and ready! The call took an hour, so I have only just had breakfast.

The sun is shining, it's a bit windy, but I am determined to go for a hike today in the Dales. Anyone local wants to join me, I shall be in Muker by 12.30ish to walk to Keld and back.

Flying will have to wait today!

Went to SW this morn & lost 1.5lbs, was hoping to be more, but went to a party at the weekend and sat next to a bowl of crisps :embarasse
Well done on your weight loss! I've got a crafty plan to deal with parties when you end up sitting next to nice food - I eat a few mouthfuls and then get my hubby to take it away from me and move it as far away as possible! I've started doing that at home too if i start munching on something I shouldn't - have a few mouthfuls and then ask him to take it away from me. I'm too lazy to walk over to the other side of the room to get it! :rotfl:

Anyway, my DARLING girls tonight raised £250 for Haiti :j:j:j, all out of performances they'd worked out themselves in the space of a week. I am so chuffed with them. They decided to send the money via. Save The Children as they were sure they wanted it to go specifically to children.

Miss H well done on the job xx

Soappie glad your course went well, sounds exhausting! I’ve got a friend who interviews people for research, not sure if it’s the same as you are planning to do but sounds like it is

Pigpen sorry to hear about DD’s friends

Please send my love to Sexy and SarahShattered if anyone is in touch with them – thanks Toots for letting us know how they are

    Sunnygirl your avvie is lovely

Jinks I hope your back is better soon, and well done on teaching your DDD about the washing – like Valli, you will soon get the message across

MOAM and Julie I hope your interviews go well

Nuttyrockeress I hope your back is better soon

Love and hugs to Diva and Lady Liberty

Have woken up feeling really rubbish and all I want to do is go back to bed. I should be going to the post office and chemist today but not sure I'm going to make it. I've definitely got whatever it is that DH has. He's dragged himself out to work. I'm ok, don't worry, just really really really tired

My friend has had her op and is back home again. I think she's ok, she had her usual reaction to anasthetic (sp?) and got a bit nasty on the text messages but I know it's not really her talking. It's just while her body reacts to the drugs she was given for the op. She's text me this morning and is fine.

    See you all later xx
