So do I! I have spent the afternoon going through all the paperwork. And phoned to check they would pay mileage. "Oh, but your supposed to go by public transport wherever possible". When I explained that to get to the venue by train would take at least 3.5 hours and cost £186.00 return, but car mileage rate quoted at interview would work out at about £50.00 and take 1/3 less time, she got my point and said to submit it. :rotfl:
She also wondered why I wasn't staying up. I asked her what she thought I'd do in Bristol from 4.15pm to 9.45 am the next day, just north of the really dodgy part of St Pauls, in winter when even the record office is shut for stock taking.... she got my point on that too!
Uh oh... I have my useless colleague/collaborator on IM... wish me luck0 -

Oh yes, around the dodgy bit of St Pauls is NOT the sort of place you want to go wandering - all sorts goes on there
See if I'd have known you could have come here and cleaned for me to pass the time :rotfl:Flymarkeeteer: £168 and counting0 -
I know this is probably not the place to post this but my little girl has just crawled (backwards, not mastered forward yet) for the first time ..........
I'm so Happy

Cleaning might stop for the day now whilst we roll/crawl around on the floor
MY baby is 9 months & CBA! well done on your baba!
Quick Q. The cupboard to sort today...does it have to be in one of the bedrooms or can I do one that really really needs doing?

I am sooooo cold! Done WM, TD, 4 cups of tea and sat down on sofa at 9.30am, vaguely wondering why cats were milling around, entertaining me with fights, games and general daytime attention. Wrapped throw round me as so cold -
and woke up at 11.45:eek:
what woke me up? A text from DD1 saying 'I did tell you that we ran out of cat food on Saturday night, didn't I?'
Sent back a tentative 'so what have they been eating then?'
'Those tins of fish in the cupboard'
Those tins of fish included wild pacific salmon, sardines, herring and tuna.
No wonder they have slept so much!
Quick trip to LIDL for Opticat pouches and crunchies. Got mobbed as I came back in, so put some crunchies down.
And now they are snoring happily, I can't vacuum for a bit.
Oh well..
BTW Penny P, every time I scanned your list as I was scrolling down, I kept on reading it as polish shallots and pickle kettle...I could dream to wide extremes, I could do or die: I could yawn and be withdrawn and watch the world go by.Yup you are officially Rock n Roll0 -

Oh what a thrilling opportunity I've missed out on - NOTI am the leading lady in the movie of my life

"No good will come of it, Miss Higgerty," I said to myself, in the sternest voice possible. "If you try to fly in those stockings you'll just end up acting like an air-head."
So this morning I have been making stuff to take out to a friend's house tonight for a Burns' night supper (she is Scottish, and has caught a wild haggis). I promised:
* Some dinky steamed puddings with whisky sauce
* A loaf of home-made bread
* A big bowl of bashed neeps and tatties. (well, swede anyway, not actually turnips)
So, having melted the puddings beyond recognition, I then came to cook the swede. And find I didn't buy one. And the village shop is closed on a Monday.
I did find a quarter of a swede in the fridge. So I cooked that. And it looked miserable; and furthermore it won't cook - it's still hard after *ages* in the Aga simmer oven, which normally cooks it a treat. [Sulk].
So I've found a butternut squash and I've roasted that and bashed it instead. At least the stuff is orange now.
Would Rabbie approve? Jinks, Toots, MacPep: reassure me!
Yours, incompetently
MissH
xxxx
p.s. I sprayed swede all over the kitchen trying to bash it; and I broke a glass bowl as well. I really think that avatar has to go....
p.p.s. I usually use recycled black plastic mini-pudding bowls from the 2-in-a-pack puds at M&S to cook steamed sponges in. (We used to get them a lot before I realised *just* how cheaply I could throw them together myself. But no lids.)
p.p.p.s. I only had Irish whiskey. It gets worse, doesn't it?
I guess since you have made us all laugh, you can be forgiven:D
Jinky – I cant help with the step child problem as you will obviously know, whatever a step parent does is anyway- but have you considered an inflatable chimney pillow to stop the drafts from the chimney and also the soot from falling? Was going to post that i had told the teens at Christmas that my job title is mother not slave or dogs body.
Was going to say they can clean their own bl**dy room, or live in a pigs sty. Their choice!
Have just read the thread.
Am feeling very humbled:o.
Love to all and thinking of you,
H
Kazm....hugs, I dont really know what else you can try, you seem to have done everything:o
Gran:p.....yes I am evil, always have been, my kids were always not too bad but the DDD is a very different kettle of fish:cool:
Diva...have you done it yet?
I have now TD and WM again,
mopped again,
and scrubbed the carpet in the ROD.....unfortunately the soot marks are still there:mad:and the sick mark_pale_ and I now have loads of fluffy bits all over the floor from the carpet, :rotfl:but it does look cleaner, I think I just need to go over the bad bits on a regular basis to get them clean. I might try it with stardrops first as well;):heartpulsOnce a Flylady, always a Flylady:heartpuls0 -

Finally I get to sit down and say Please Can I have a star as all jobs complete!! It has taken me all day to gut both girls bedrooms and the playroom. Needless to say I am having a well earned rest now as I've been at it since 9am! Feel really chuffed with myself - loads of things binned and a pile of stuff to go to the charity shop. I've also reused a book case that i've been meaning to get rid off for ages - just popped it in the playroom with some more of the girls books - so neatening their bedrooms as well.
All beds changed - my eldest had wet bed so i've had to do all the duvets etc but all sorted now and everything smelling really clean.
My hubbies first day back at work today (we run a camp site so seasonally based) and its been weird not having him around but at least I've had a list of things to do - roll on tommorrow!0 -
Kazm - my DD1 when she was 13-15 years old was a right nightmare, sneaking out of the house to go to mates, smoking, not doing homework, rude, aggressive the whole shebang. She is now 19 nearly 20 and an absolute joy most of the time - unless she's with her sister! The best way is to try and ignore (impossible for me) as to let them know they have goaded you is worth a million pounds to them. I once got that mad I threw a drink at her (not the mug just the drink) - very shameful behaviour and I still cringe now when I think about it. Bit a wake up call to my XH as he didn't see or hear the half of it. But bad behaviour on my part all the same. Sooooooo - please try and walk away, MAKE DH listen and do more with her in the way of reprimanding as they (well my XH anyway) liked to be the good cop and me the bad cop IYCWIM. Can't beleive I've just aired my ddirty laundry again to all of you!!!!To love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0
