    Half the house has been dusted and dysoned. Just got the other half to do now...

    Oh, and I've just had a lovely surprise! I've just renewed my car tax - first time since rates went up ridiculously last May. I thought I'd fall into the £400+ category :eek: but blow me, the Chancellor has been nice. Because my car was registered before 2006, there's a special K category and it was only £215.00 :D:money:

    Evening, sorry I wasn't on earlier. DH has been at home all day as he has a cold so I've not been able to get online much. He's just popped out to get a kebab as that's the only thing he wants to eat. I'm not too bad - apart from the upset tummy from the AB's. Feel a bit grotty but am ok.

    I've thrown out masses of rubbish from the kitchen and put things in the recycling bags, and done a bit of tidying generally. Not huge amounts, but definitely 15 mins worth so have reached my goal for the day. I couldn't do all I had planned cos DH was home.

    I've not fully caught up, got to read from p.8 onwards
    DD1 was in charge of DD2. In the morning, she took her to the optician for her eye test. No specs needed. In the afternoon, she managed to get to the only branch of their bank in the town which was open on Saturdays, only to be told that under 18's are not allowed to withdraw money from their savings accounts at weekends. Bearing in mind all their other branches close at 3.30 during the week, DD1 explained this and politely asked what the procedure was for closing all accounts immediately. They got their money and went to the hairdressers for a lovely long layered cut each.
    Good for your DD for sticking up for herself, yet being polite and very very clever at the same time! Sounds like the bank needs to rethink it's policies

    Hugs Valli, Ishtar, Yorkie xx

    Hugs Lil_me for you, your dad and for Matthew and his family

    Toots well done on getting your list down by 5 things! That’s fab!

    Gotnodosh I hope your back is better soon

    Soappie I hope your course goes well

    AJ have a great holiday

    Macpep congrats to DH on his win and generosity in giving some of his winnings to the runner up

    Love and hugs to Lady Liberty and Diva

    ETA: is anyone else having trouble with FB? I've not been able to post anything all day

    Rose are you taking friendly bacteria capsules to replace the ones in your gut killed off by the ABs? Maybe ask in a health food shop/pharmacy if not.

    I've put the next lot of washing on the banisters - it takes so long to dry this weather it's driving me senseless.

    ETA - also have you told your GP about the effect they have on you. I am intolerant of lots of ABs but there are suitable ones (they are just not always first choice, probably more costly, for all GPs)

    I sympathise; I have a full-length, very heavy black dress merrily dripping into the bath as I type.

    I knew it, really, when I put that ditzy avatar up.

    "No good will come of it, Miss Higgerty," I said to myself, in the sternest voice possible. "If you try to fly in those stockings you'll just end up acting like an air-head."

    So this morning I have been making stuff to take out to a friend's house tonight for a Burns' night supper (she is Scottish, and has caught a wild haggis). I promised:

    * Some dinky steamed puddings with whisky sauce
    * A loaf of home-made bread
    * A big bowl of bashed neeps and tatties. (well, swede anyway, not actually turnips)

    So, having melted the puddings beyond recognition, I then came to cook the swede. And find I didn't buy one. And the village shop is closed on a Monday. :o

    I did find a quarter of a swede in the fridge. So I cooked that. And it looked miserable; and furthermore it won't cook - it's still hard after *ages* in the Aga simmer oven, which normally cooks it a treat. [Sulk].

    So I've found a butternut squash and I've roasted that and bashed it instead. At least the stuff is orange now.

    Would Rabbie approve? Jinks, Toots, MacPep: reassure me!

    p.s. I sprayed swede all over the kitchen trying to bash it; and I broke a glass bowl as well. I really think that avatar has to go.... ;)
    p.p.s. I usually use recycled black plastic mini-pudding bowls from the 2-in-a-pack puds at M&S to cook steamed sponges in. (We used to get them a lot before I realised *just* how cheaply I could throw them together myself. But no lids.)
    p.p.p.s. I only had Irish whiskey. It gets worse, doesn't it?

    :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    You made me laugh as well so yes you are forgiven and am sure your friend will appreciate all the effort you made

    By the way you should ask her where she got the *ahem* wild haggis :rotfl::rotfl:
    Well for Burns supper we had tatties, steak pie and brussel sprouts we don't like haggis or turnip and the kids had a tiny bit of irn bru watered down as they are not allowed this but DD said they had it in school today for Burns Day but as she was a packed lunch rather than a cash cafe she didn't get any. As she knows she isn't allowed it am sure she would not have taken it anyway if she was given the option ;)

    I'm suffering from a severe attack of CBA (probably because I've been cold all day :o). My gym partner has just told me that she can't go to the gym tonight, so I'm now reluctant to get changed and drive 8 mile each way just to walk on a treadmill for an hour. I know I need to do the exercise, but I'd rather just veg on the sofa with a trashy novel ...

    I did walk to the post office today, but that's less than a mile and I need to do FOUR!!!
