she was preasured into signing quickly and as it takes her longer to read something she did not read it properly. nobody is playing the disability card just asking if a contract is valid if the company offering credit does not have a consumer credit licence.
thank you
surely they told her the photo's cost two grand? does she sign a lot of contracts without understanding them?
i think you are playing the dyslexic/ disabilty card, or why mention it?0 -
i came here to get a question answered not bicker about dyslexia.
is a contract valid if a company has a lapsed consumer credit licence?0 -
I got screwed by New ID Studios in London a few years ago - same story...got a phonecall to inform me of my "win", took a deposit (can't remember how much) and had a very uncomfortable photoshoot and waited around all day to see my photos...was told I couldn't have my deposit back but it could be used towards other photo purchases. I ended up being pushed into buying another 2 pictures...I don't like any of the 3 I got. The makeup and hair were terrible and I told them so at the time and they were really rude, ie "Well, I think my opinion overrides yours as I am the makeup artist here" kind of thing...0

Hello,
Glad to see the messages and threads about them.
Just before the Christmas holidays, I received a phone called from them. A lady talked very fast to me and explained that a friend of mine bought me a make over session for me and another person. The name she mentionned is a friend yes but we only worked together and don't know each other that well to buy this kind of present. I was a bit surprised. The lady pushed me to make an appointment, she was talking a lot. I was really unsure about all of this. She asked me to pay for a deposit which I refused as I was really confused about all this. She hung up! I was really upset about her beahviour and did a search on the Internet. So glad I didn't give my bank details. Horrible lady. I just hoped they don't expect me to come to the appointment.0 -
i don't see what being disabled has to do with this?
The fact that these two people had struggled to make it up the stairs to the second and third floors comes to mind! No disabled facilities or help other than seeing pound signs above their heads. These places give lots of reassurances at the time and don't give the exact timings of things either. I was in agony on my "good" if that is the right word session doing a NewID photoshoot for the sake of my daughter. I had told them in advance I had disabilities and they said no problems they would account for it. Wrong! All together it took just over 8 hours (the make up girl had to reapply it had been that long. I was existing on pain killers but they weren't bothered, even when I mentioned about telling them in advance about the disabilities.
The "bad" one was about 25 years ago. Can't remember the name of the studios. Some things haven't changed a bit as even then they did the "You have won a competition" phone call. As I did competitions at the time I thought it was genuine. They made out it was completely free with a 7 x 3 print to "take home." The reality was a good day but I was suspicious when they said to put all my stuff in a locker. This was I found out later to prevent people from just taking advantage from the photo shoot and legging it home. So photo shoot over and for the viewing: High pressure sales as already stated. Ended up agreeing to one A4 size photo in addition to my freebie (which wasn't as a "take away" print). Then I found out there would be a 3 week wait. When we went back for the print it was nowhere near as good as the proofs they showed us at the time. Thankfully I knew my rights and my husband was with me so we insisted they got the proofs out to compare and the girl had to admit there was a big difference. They did agree to refund but it took weeks. I suppose I should be lucky that it wasn't as bad as some of you have had to go through, I really feel for you and hope those that can will get their money back. After seeing how these sales people work it is like the time share folk:eek: Good luck with your refunds.0 -

I always find it a laugh, seeing as you're always a winner, giving joke names like you'd do on a prank phone call, and getting them to leave voicemails on an old SIM. Always cheers me up if I'm in a bad mood!0
