Crashometer goes from 3 to 4

Personally, I think if the government can raise the terrorism threat level from 'substantial' to 'severe,' then Mr Macaque has every reason to increase the swing on his Crashometer.
By the government's own admission, "there is no intelligence to suggest that an attack is imminent,” so why should the President of the 70% club have to justify his decision? He has gone way beyond what is necessary here, citing highly sensitive recycling bin surveillance data, yet still you mock!
But wait, what is this I see from phil_b?
"On the plus side, it's great for it's comedy value."
Thanks phil, that neat line threw most folk off the trail.
phil_b?..... Philby?.... I wonder which side he's really working for?

How many members does the 70% club have?
Me... I am.....*insert appropriate Davesnave smiley*......for purely selfish reasons. I wanna big FO pile overlooking the sea to waft around in and be creative (Need 2000 sq ft + 800 sq ft to live in).....and no way will I be able to buy The Dream' if prices stay so crazily high.
I blame the babyboomers.........I think I just missed it as I was born in 1963...if I didn't, then I have really mucked up as I am not as 'lucky' as they are meant to be.0 -

I thought the 70% club were an "I believe, hand on heart, in perfect faith...that prices will drop by 70% from their peak within the next few years."
Rather than, "I want a castle/ county/ country pad[delete as appropriate] and I can only get it if prices drop by at least 70%."I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Sometime it comes over to me as the same thing.:o
I am of the view that prices will drop real terms by about half from peak but it will take about 10 years from now.....which could be good timing.:D
In truth, I am of the view that you cut your cloth according to the moment (or as near as) and plan accordingly.
A few people on this board have bought recently (or are buying) and it's the best thing for them to do now (in terms of their life and where they want to be)....rather than put life on hold for ever and ever until The BIg One.0 -

Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”
