Old boiler has just died :(

Our boiler has died and it's not covered on the insurance
it is freeeeeeezing in my house!!
The dilemma - do we just get the boiler fixed (which we can't afford), do we investigate replacing the boiler/immersion with a combi (which we can't afford) or do we stick it out with the hot water bottles/blankets/plug-in oil radiator until the weather warms up??
I've seen plenty of you guys saying to avoid BGas for replacement boiler.
Any idea how much an independant plumber would fit a combi for (and remove immersion and water tanks) if we supplied the unit (in Bristol btw)?
Any advice gratefully received, thanks
