Buying a house for someone else?

Hello house buying experts!
I would like to buy a house for my girlfriend. I have the funds available and I know one I think she wants. What legal procedures do I need to go through to make the house hers?
I assume I buy it, and then gift it to her?
I will obviously consult my solicitor but he isn't about on a Saturday night!
Any advice would be great.
Thanks!

If you can afford to go buying people houses on a whim, you should be able to have afforded a solicitor that's available 24/7.
If it doesn't work out with this gf, give me a shout.... I know which house I want.0 -

Well obviously I am not going to attempt to buy the actual house until Monday. However I am curious as to how much extra work I will need to go through and the like. I am sure many people's questions on here could be answered on Monday or by seeking the correct legal advice however they still ask them... Just like me.PasturesNew wrote: »If you can afford to go buying people houses on a whim, you should be able to have afforded a solicitor that's available 24/7.

Pah my solicitor has the cheek to be away this weekend with his family and is thus not available.
I am sure it will work out. However if you fit in the right bracket and you don't mind being the other woman, then drop me a line :rotfl:It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

That is a tad unromantic.. Plus she would never accept that....It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

We have been together a while.
She wants to live in the sticks (Hertfordshire) and I wish/need to live in London for work so it really wouldn't work me living in the middle of nowhere. And I guess she wants/needs to have something of her own to fall back on if she gets bored with me....It must be accepted as a principle that the rifle cannot replace the speed of the horse, the magnetism of the charge and the terror of cold steel.

The only problem you'll have is if the solicitor gets dilligent on his money laundering responsibilities. Potentially, the girlfriend can end up with a huge income tax bill. That's why girls prefer diamonds, untraceable by the Inland Revenue.0
