Orange vs O2

I am currently using Orange for my internet and whilst I have no problems I am paying £20 a month for 8mg unlimited download internet access. I have just joined O2 mobil phone and have been quoted at £7.50 to sign up for 12 months at same download speed and unlimited. I can't access talk talk etc in my area as the exchange is not unbundled - but should I move. I am very worried about losing internet connection as husband works at home when we swap.

It depends if you can get O2 'llu packages'... these are called:

Standard (the £7.50 one), Premium and Pro. These are all much better than Orange and worth the swap.

If you can only get O2 'non-llu', that's Home Access.. then don't bother, apparently it's not very good and a lot of people are reporting problems with it at the moment.

The swap would cause less than half an hour downtime as the wires are swapped from the current dslam at the exchange to O2's

The O2 service is pretty reliable too.

As long as you can get 02 LLU, it's a no-brainer. With mobile discount, first two months free and £75 Quidco cashback, your first year on the Standard package will cost you the grand total of...£0.00.
Vastly better CS and quality than Orange.

    Local Loop Unbundled.
The only non-LLU package on 02 is the Home Access product (to be avoided at all cost). All the other packages are LLU.
If you have been quoted 02 Home Broadband at £7.50, then o2 are LLU on your exchange. But check on https://www.samknows.com (exchange search) to be sure.

  • Basically if you put your postcode and number into o2 website and it says you can have standard, premium or pro - then you're in luck - means you can get the LLU product - in which case - take the saving, and take the far superior product. Yo may even find your line supports more than 8mb - if so get yourself on premium and for half the cost of Orange you could have up to 20mb
