Seem ok?
What are you using it for and what is your budget? That has some high end gaming orientated parts in it (Radeon 5870 for example @ £341, I've built whole systems for less than that) whereas the first system comes with a load of extras, and a high spec at first glance, but you don't really know what you're getting.
BTW you don't use that overpriced triple channel memory kit with that motherboard and processor. They use dual channel memory. The triple channel kits are for Core i7 9xx systems.0 -

Oh what a laugh, why buy a mac at ££££££££££££ when you could buy a PC and load Ubuntu for soooooo much less.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

Not wishing to take things off topic, but PCs like that aren't any cheaper (if you can find one). Two Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors alone cost more than most PCs.
Also, perhaps the OP would like to use Photoshop, Apple Logic, Final Cut, Microsoft Word, Abode Lightroom, or any of the other countless pieces of industry standard software not available for Linux.
Just a thought.0 -

So what? Why use those hugely expensive and resource-hungry applications when there is Gimp - the latest stable version of which is particularly good - and, with respect well up to PS IMHO and I use the latter at work, Kdenlive, OpenOffice (VG), Picasa etc and if push really comes to shove there's always Wine, VirtualBox or Zen if you just can't separate yourself from Windoze.
Not that I'm knocking Mac's, btw, both sons bought Mac (won't go back), and on each of their profiles on this machine they installed Cairo Dock - so they feel at home.My very sincere apologies for those hoping to request off-board assistance but I am now so inundated with requests that in order to do justice to those "already in the system" I am no longer accepting PM's and am unlikely to do so for the foreseeable future (August 2016).
For those seeking more detailed advice and guidance regarding small claims cases arising from private parking issues I recommend that you visit the Private Parking forum on PePiPoo.com0 -

I strongly disagree that GIMP is as good as Photoshop, just as Open Office isn't as good as MS Office.0 -

Because they're simply not anywhere near as good?
And it's Windows btw..0 -
I build these "High End" PCs all the time. Much ado about nothing really. Big numbers, impressive benching but the basics forgotten. Low latency Ram, accross the bus very important. It's all about throughput.
Why Intel? Why not AMD, they have always handled throughput at the expense of a slight heat increase.
Actually, I would not build an AMD high ender at the moment.
How bout tell me what you want to do with it then I can engineer the damn thing. You know...totally bespoke...my PC....the beast from the east where all the technolgy unifies and moves together
Incidently, Heathrow Airport already has a computer running it...why dya need another?Computers are like me, I get up in the morning and work...until I stop.0 -
Why have such a high spec pc?
Its not high-spec in my eyes, compared to what i originally wanted its alot cheaper
Obvioulsy have the wrong motherboard in that list so that will need changing, as for the rest, its pretty min spec for what im going for0
