donna, you may want to look at this post about cleaning your hard drive when vista seems to swallow your free space

I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
To run chkdsk,
Double click on Computer
Right click on the drive you want windows to check
Select Properties
Sellect Tools Tab
Click on Check For Errors button
Confirm your intentions for UAC Alert
This should invoke a Chkdsk /r option the next time you restart your PC.
Please note. This process will take some time but you must not switch the PC off during the process.
I feel certain this will reallocate the space marked by Defrag Software
Good luckComputers are like me, I get up in the morning and work...until I stop.0 -

It simply tells you where all your disk space is at. If you think that something has gobbled up 23Gb, it should be pretty obvious where it's gone! But, as has been said, it's probably just the defraggler (fraggler! love it!) going about it's normal business, and you interrupted it before it was done. In order to defrag files it has to move the fragments from where they are to somewhere else, which temporarily takes space. It all unwinds eventually.Je suis Charlie.0 -
I cant see a defrag program taking up that much space personally. When mine runs (And I do have some hugh files), it only fluctuates slightly as its defragging ~ and thats using defraggler:idea:0

Mebbe. To be honest, I've never watched it that closely whilst it's working.Je suis Charlie.0 -
