Please open malwarebytes and goto LOGS and post the 'whole' of the last logfile

    reboot

Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
    http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)

i've discovered there is an application in windows that can do the defrag so i'm going to give that a go first coz the way defraggler was going it was going to take 15 hours or more to do it.

    Hi,

Feel free to contact me Donna. I can help you here. Trust me, defrag will do little to improve performance. The memory loss is not a loss, its a datafile written incorrectly and reporting wrongly.

the thing that was happening when defraggler was running is the amount of freespace it said i had was gradually reducing as it progressed. god knows what i would have had left if i had let it run the whole way through.

are you sure i should remove the quicktime and itunes stuff as i do have them both installed on the pc. i just dont want to knack them up. the symantec thing may well be there simply because it was the default security that came with the pc. in the welcome box that opens when i log on it still says symantec your security source. i did use the norton removal tool when i changed to kaspersky.
