  • Hey everyone. I discovered this thread today, and it has certainly struck a nerve with me. I do not consider myself an alcoholic, but I certainly fit the binge-drinking profile. Last week, I was drunk at night from Tuesday to Saturday inclusive, having between half and a whole bottle of wine each night. I have been a lot worse before, drinking during the day, and only having one day a week off, so I have calmed down a lot, but I know I can't carry on the way I am. I have quit drinking completely for three months before, but that happened because I got absolutely hammered, was very nasty to some work colleagues for no reason, then didn't go to work for two days.

I can be a happy drunk or a nasty drunk, and I can never predict which I'll be. My family are concerned about my drinking, and although I know I can go without, a lot of the time I really don't want to. I don't know what to do next.

I'm sorry to dump all of this on you all, but no one I talk to quite understands how I feel about this.

Welcome Phoenix_Dragon to the madhouse..ahem, I mean thread!

This is a great place to be if you are trying to cut down or give up. Theres a few on here who have given up alcohol completely and lots of us trying to cut down. Whatever option you go for you will get lots of support and encouragement on here.

The lovely Fay is running this months challenge. We each chose how many "alcohol free" days we want in a month and then aim for that figure. Its an excellent way of getting some alcohol free days in....good for your health and your pocket!

    Good luck!

I want to cut down my drinking as it has become a bit of a habit when I get in from work to 'unwind'.

Want to try to have four AF days/evenings per week. Have had two so far this week so that would be about 16 per month so I'm going to try this.

I'm also trying to loose weight so this should help with this as well. And I'll save money, can't think of any reasons really why I shouldn't other than I like it.

Hello there - welcome to the mad house - there's alot of help and support on here with folks from all aspects of life - with all types of agendas

........my own is to start to appreciate myself a little more and 'find' myself a little - I can't do that if I'm snoring on the sofa having had a bottle of wine..........can I?

Anyway - the FAFF (Fantastic Alcohol Free February challenge) - this is a fun way of setting our own goals - whether its give up for a day, week, or whatever - no pressure ot join in nor any pressure to set a target.

Sit by the sidelines or join in with us - its entirely up to yourselves - we've a wide range of posters from me (way up north) to those in the deep sooth

This months list is HERE - the link clicks you to folks names and targets the have or haven't set themselves. Total pledged days is first, then the number of AFD's (alcohol free days) done and a blob in a boxes numbered 1-28 co-incides with the day of the month (eg a day when someone was AF).

No need to join in but do feel very welcome if you want to just post a number of days you fancy trying to be AF this week/month and I'll add you to this list.

Some of us have NO target - and are just taking each day as it comes. :)

    Huge waves hello!!
Total debt 26/4/18 <£1925 we were getting there.
Total debt as of 28/4/19 £7867.38:eek:
    minus 112.06 = £7755.32:money:
