Morning everyone!
I stopped drinking after I posted last night, which was certainly a good thing and I don't feel hungover this morning, although I know I drank too much yesterday, but it could have been worse! I am looking forward to an AF week.
I've also re-read my posts from last night and subsequent posts from everyone and I am delighted to be back with you all.
Jo - hope you have a great first day at work! I am very excited for you:j
And about "the" post - no need to hide 365!! I absolutely agree that alcohol is hideous and it goes without saying that alcohol abuse can have terrible consequences for the person drinking and their friends and relatives. However, if those of us who struggle with alcoholism could act rationally about what we are doing and simply stop, then no-one would be an alcoholic. Oh, how I wish I could just switch it off, just like that!
As GC says - alcoholism is an illness and an addiction - it does not make use "losers". It was the loser part and the children part that got me riled .
I agree with everything else that was posted. I don't want to be wrapped up in cotton wool about alcohol and its devastating effects, it is beneficial to hear shocking stories - in fact those are the sorts of things discussed in AA meetings and it is extremely useful. But plain old insults are not.
Ok - rant over, ha ha. Actually, it's really good to get my teeth into discussing these difficult issues again! Hoorah for this thread!
Hugs to all, have a lovely day.

Can I join with this thread please? I am seriously trying to cut down on my wine consumption after realising that pouring a glass of red (or three) has become a bit of a nightly habitSometimes I don't even want to drink, which makes no sense whatsoever!
Thanks and look forward to meeting you all

Welcome
It's amazing how it sneaks in under the radar and becomes a habit - from a few years ago having a glass or 2 a few nights a week then to drinking at least 6 nights out of 7
I like the thing about drinking when you don't want to - that was me all over.0 -

Love this bloke!
Inspiring stuff - just what I need at the moment, as I'm full of fear which I need to face without a drink, and I'm finding it very hard today.
Have had a craving 3 times since this morning, and I'm scared to go out, in case I end up in the pub.
Spot on as you say Millie and Graham, about drinking when you don't want to.
