Virgin / Orange coverage

We have just transferred our daughter from an Orange sim only to a Virgin sim only. Just wanted to say that the coverage, signal and reception from Virgin is brilliant compared to Orange (she used to have to hang out of the window to get a signal). Virgin are also nearly £5 cheaper for the same deal 200 mins and unlimited texts. Virgin £10 per month and Orange £14.70`ish.

Virgin use T mobile's masts as they don't have any masts of their own, so reception is the same as with a T Mobile sim.

and T-Mobile and Orange are merging so you will be sharing reception within two years anyway.

Doesnt it depend where you live!?

We have no O2 or Virgin signal where we live so regardless of cost neither would be much use to us. However, Orange is poor and Vodaphone is fantastic.

Yes thats why it pays to check the coverage maps, and ask your neighbours, local trades people what they use and what the coverage is like.

Also worth checking offcom's "sitefinder" site which is a zoomable map showing mast locations down to street level.

You can click on the icons and it will tell tell you which network the mast is on and if it's UMTS (3g) or GSM (2g)
